Set up a kids' rainbow playdate and incorporate fun kids' crafts to keep everyone busy. These DIY ideas will inspire kids to create their own artwork.
We love hosting playdates for our kids and their friends, which means we are always looking for new and fun activities to keep our little ones busy and creative! Our kids simply love to get crafty so we thought a colorfully creative art-themed playdate would be the perfect fit. With our unique crafting ideas, rainbow-inspired snacks and DIY projects, your kids and their friends will be enjoying their crafting playdate together in no time!
The Craft Table: Nothing says "art" like all of the colors of the rainbow, so we let that inspire our color palette for this creative playdate setting! We started by using a Clouds and Sky Art Paper Roll as a tablecloth which we then layered with a Rainbow Plastic Tablecloth Roll. Not only did this make our craft table extra colorful, but it helped to contain the mess and all of our crafting supplies!
We even added faux paint splotches for an extra pop of color to our table by cutting splatter marks out of Bright Foam Sheets!
The Crafting Stations: Each of our play mates had their very own crafting station to get creative. We started by incorporating a few crafting basics, including a Watercolor Tray, a Watercolor Stretched Canvas and a Tabletop Easel, a Paint Palette full of a mix of rainbow Self Adhesive Buttons, fluffy White Pom Poms and Rainbow Crayons.
We even added a few adorable buttons to the bottom of our easel for a cute rainbow detail!
Every friend had their own supplies so they could get busy creating our DIY No Mess Canvas Art Project. You can check out our step by step tutorial to create this adorable art project here!
We also included a Rainbow Molded Cup at each station so our artists could neatly sip on a drink as they worked. The kids just adored these sweet cups!
The Centerpiece: We wanted plenty of colorful rainbow inspiration for our tiny artists which meant incorporating plenty of crayons, sunshine, candies and paint buckets! We created this super fun centerpiece by adhering a rainbow pattern of Crayola® Crayons to a DIY Unfinished Wood Planter Box with hot glue.
We loved how this not only tied into the art theme but also brought in the rainbow aspect.
We also added a bunch of rainbow Gumballs for the kids to make necklaces or to add to their canvases. Food sometimes makes the best art supplies!
Next to our rainbow art bin, we displayed paint cans filled with extra crafting supplies for the kids to use in their projects. They looked adorable and the kids loved pulling the White Pom Poms and Gumballs out to use.
The Snack Station: Getting busy with arts and crafts can certainly work up an appetite, so snacks were simply a must-have! We wanted to keep it simple, so we whipped up a batch of no bake Marshmallow Rainbow Cereal Bars for the kids to munch on.
This recipe is so easy and is a colorful twist on a classic kid favorite! We especially loved how these marshmallow pops have an edible handle made of Rainbow Hard Candy Sticks!
We served up additional drinks in more Rainbow Molded Cups with Straws and popcorn in Rainbow Paper Cups.
One of our favorite details was leaving a few gumballs from our craft station aside for these edible rainbow gumball palettes! We simply saved a few of our Gumballs and arranged them in rainbow order in spare Paint Palettes and, voila! Instant edible rainbow! You could even serve up your Marshmallow Rainbow Cereal Bars in the middle!
The Backdrop: We wanted to get a little crafty ourselves, and a DIY Tulle Rainbow Backdrop was a perfect way to get into a colorful mood! With a bit of tulle, a mix of colorful Self Adhesive Buttons, the cutest You Are My Sunshine Tissue Balls and Clouds, we created the perfect backdrop in only a few minutes!
You can easily create the super cute DIY Tulle Rainbow Backdrop by following our simple DIY tutorial which you can find here.
Dressing the Part: Lastly, make sure your little artists keep their clothes neat and clean by making these super cute Colorful Kids' Aprons! Not only do these little aprons help to keep kids tidy, but they help the kids to feel like real artists. We transformed these rainbow toned Aprons into themed ones by cutting out a paint palette shape from Bright Foam Sheets and adding Self Adhesive Buttons to represent different dollops of paint!
The kids loved bringing home their creations to display at home and had an amazing time creating art with friends! Looking for more Rainbow Craft Playdate ideas be sure to check out our DIY Rainbow Backdrop, DIY No Mess Canvas Art Project and Marshmallow Rainbow Cereal Bar Recipe!
