Autumn is here and it's time for all things pumpkin! Host a Fall Family-Friendly Pumpkin Carving Party for your friends and family. After all, what's Halloween without decorated pumpkins, right?!
One of my favorite fall activities is hosting a Fall Family-Friendly Pumpkin Carving Party for family and friends. After all, what's Halloween without decorated pumpkins, right?!
Everyone young and old loves getting together to see who will take home the top honors for the best decorated pumpkin. And, it's always fun to see the creative, scary and pretty pumpkins everyone decorates. This is the perfect fall party that you can host right in your own backyard!
I set up a simple dessert and treat station where our guest could grab pumpkin cupcakes, caramel popcorn and other yummy fall treats, including our delicious recipe for Pumpkin Spiced Cider Punch.
I set up a table where guest could sit on hay bales and enjoy their yummy treats before the party activities began. These lil' pumpkin plates were the perfect size for our fall desserts and looked super cute on the Lil' Pumpkin Plastic Tablecloth.
The Lil' Pumpkin Party Centerpiece filled with mini pumpkin stress toys, which also doubled as party favors, was a simple way to make the table feel extra special.
Once everyone had a chance to snack on some sweet fall treats it was time to pick a pumpkin and create award winning pumpkins for Halloween. I creating our very own pumpkin patch where guest could pick out a pumpkin to decorate. You can use a mix of faux and real pumpkins to create your pumpkin patch, or you can just suggest that each guest bring their own pumpkin to decorate.
While everyone was picking out their pumpkins I cleared away the dessert table settings and added everything guest would need to decorate their pumpkins. I filled a mason jar with the tools from the pumpkin carving party set for those guest that wanted to carve their pumpkins.
For everyone else who didn't want to carve their pumpkins I provided a variety of funny face pumpkin decorating kits. I love these, because they are perfect for younger kids or those guest who aren't interested in carving their pumpkin. In addition to these kits you could also provide paint, washi tape, stickers, jewels or other odds and ends for guest to get creative and make their own unique pumpkin. I also made sure to have several medium galvanized pots on the table for guest to put their trash from the stickers or the pumpkin guts into to help keep the area clean.
I also provided smaller DIY wooden unfinished pumpkin shapes for the kids to color and decorate. My kids love this because it's something they can keep in their room to decorate their own space for Halloween.
Once everyone was finished decorating their pumpkins we lined them up and judged them. Everyone received one of the DIY Pumpkin Awards I created for this party. We had everything from the spookiest to the funniest pumpkin and it was fun to watch the kids get excited about their awards.
Before everyone left for the evening I made sure to give them a Pumpkin Jar Party Favor with everything they will need to light the night on Halloween.
This is such a fun way to gather friends, neighbors and family to celebrate fall and get excited about Halloween. I love this time of year and always look forward to creating extraordinary memories with my kids and I know that this tradition is one that will last year after year.
