In our Sunday School, we are learning about the different ways we can pray, different scriptures and when we can pray. We needed something to help the students remember what we were learning about during our Sunday School class. I used black Fadeless paper, multi-colored fans and the Pray Bulletin Board set to create a bulletin board for the students. The bulletin board helped the students remember all the different times that they can pray.
Our Sunday School has decided that instead of focusing on specific Bible Stories, we are going to focus on praying and specific scriptures. We are spending a couple months on teaching the kids how and when to pray. Since we have a younger group of kids in Sunday School we were struggling with how to help remind them when to pray. This bulletin board is the perfect solution.
I started out with Fadeless® Art Black Paper. Then I layered some Red and White Scalloped Border. I love how the border just popped! Then to the top of the board I added Orange Tissue Hanging Fans, Red Tissue Hanging Fans and Blue Tissue Hanging Fans.
I love how adding a touch of fans makes the bulletin board really pop out. Once I stacked my fans, I added the Pray Bulletin Board Set. I centered the main "When Should I Pray" piece in the very middle of the board. Then I evenly spaced the little time cards on the bottom half. I made sure to make these about kid height, so that the kids could really utilized the bulletin board.
One thing that I really liked about this bulletin board set, is that it didn't just have the typical times that a small child would think about praying. This goes above and beyond praying when they go to bed, when they eat and when they need something. We felt it was important that our kids learned that we don't pray just when we need something. Prayers aren't just for asking. So, we did a big lesson about why you should pray when you are happy too.
Our kids loved having the visual reminder up in our main hallway at church. You can hear their little voices telling their families, "Mommy, don't forget to pray when you are happy, not just when you are sad!" Or, "Daddy, we can't forget to pray at lunch time today!" Since we put the bulletin board up together, they are more invested in it. It has been a great teaching tool for our littlest students, and for our bigger ones in the Congregation too!
