Spoon Bugs Kids Craft Idea

Spoon Bugs Kids Craft Idea

Make these adorable bugs using plastic spoons as a mold! Spoon bugs can be used for many different purposes, including a game piece for tic tac toe, a garden marker, or even a toy for imaginative play. They don't take long to make, as the plaster of paris dries in 20-30 minutes and the spoon bugs are ready for paint. Acrylic paint absorbs well into the plaster and you can even use Sharpie® markers to add details.

For each bug you will prepare the plaster of paris according to package instrutions. We use 1 cup plaster of paris to 1/2 cup water. Dip the spoon into the plaster until the spoon is full. Tap off any excess plaster. Let the spoon bug dry for 20-30 minutes. Follow the instructions below to make each plastic spoon bug!

Fill in the areas outlined with black acrylic paint. With a small paint brush, make tiny polka dots onto the ladybug wings. Add two mini googly eyes to the head.
