Pretty in Plaid Christmas Front Porch

Pretty in Plaid Christmas Front Porch

I have been a long time fan of plaid. It is a classic print that will never go out of style and it has such cozy vibes that remind me of the crisp outdoors and lounging by the fire. If you're looking to mix up your traditional Christmas decor this year, I recommend throwing in some plaid! Plaid isn't limited to indoor decorating, it is perfect for outdoors too. This year, I got my front porch holiday ready with some fun buffalo plaid pieces including a festive holiday door mat, buffalo plaid pillows and these sweet little woodland animals!

Our covered front porch is a favorite spot of mine to decorate for the holidays. With its bench and rocking chair I can create a cozy indoor feel to welcome our guests.

Decorating your porch for the holidays can be as simple as adding a festive wreath. I often like to switch out the doormat and accent pillows as well. Isn't this Merry and Bright buffalo plaid doormat the sweetest?

When changing up my front porch for a new season, I also like to freshen up my planter boxes. I removed spent flowers from my tall green planters and replaced them with poinsettias, berries, and twigs. When it comes to decorating with poinsettias outdoors you'll want to go faux! Real poinsettias can't handle cold temperatures and the faux ones look just as good from the street. Plus you can reuse them each year. I finished off my planters with a bow made from this buffalo plaid ribbon.

DIY Holly Berry Wreath

Fresh evergreen wreaths are nice at Christmas, but it doesn't take long for their needles to start to drop. This faux holly wreath achieves a similar look without ever wilting. Creating the wreath couldn't be simpler. Just take two strands of this holly leaf silk garland and wrap them around a wire wreath form. Hang it with a plaid ribbon and you're done. You can find the full list of materials and step-by-step tutorial here.

No-Sew Burlap Pillows

I decorated our bench and rocking chair with a mix of buffalo plaid pillows and DIY burlap pillows. I had so much fun making these because no sewing was required! I started with a burlap pillow square and added various embellishments such as pom-pom trim, felt trees, and plaid words with hot glue. Get all the details of this simple project here.

The mix of pillows on the bench really cozy up this corner of our front porch. I used some additional holly leaf silk garland to drape around the back of the bench and hung this JOY wall hanging above it.

Woodland Animals

This set of three woodland tabletop animals is my favorite addition to the front porch. I incorporated two of the little guys into a wood planter box filled with burlap, frosted pine cones, and wool felt pom-poms for a sweet display. Check out the wood slice decorated planter tutorial to make your own. It is such a versatile decorating piece for both fall and winter!

Plush Woodland Animals

I styled the raccoon in a red tabletop wagon along with a small tree decorated with felt pom-poms. All these little details make the porch feel extra cozy, but would look just as sweet as a vignette inside your home as well. These little stuffed animals have a flat base on the bottom, making them easy to stand up.
