Beatrix Potter has always been one of our favorite authors, with The Tale of Peter Rabbit holding a special place in our heart. With a few decorations, the addition of some fresh flowers and vegetables and some pictures from an extra Peter Rabbit book we had on hand, we created a chic and whimsical baby shower fit for any mommy-to-be.
The Tablescape We wanted a light, yet rustic look to our dining table to truly capture the whimsy created in Beatrix Potter's A Tale of Peter Rabbit. We chose a palette of white, blue and orange and then added in a variety of fresh flowers and vegetable to pay homage to Peter Rabbit's home and mischevious outings into Mr. McGregor's Farm. A White Polyester Tablecloth was layered with a wide piece of Light Blue Gingham Tablecloth Roll and topped with a White Burlap Roll.
The Place Setting Each guest sat down to a layered place setting including a Burlap Wedding Charger, Burlap & Lace Dinner Plate, Light Blue Gingham Dinner Plate and an Ivory Scalloped Edge Dessert Plate. We love the visual and textural appeal this brings to the table! We topped the settings with a painted and distressed Mini Terra Cotta Pot filled with a fresh brussel sprouts and floral sprigs. We added our favorite PeterRabbit quote, "even the smallest one can change the world", which was a perfect fit for the occassion.
Rather than spend an absorbanant amount of money on themed glasses, we decided to snip a few similar pictures of Peter Rabbit from our extra Peter Rabbit Book and used some Mod Podge to adhere them to these fabulous Clear Stemless Wine Glasses. This was simple and inexpensive DIY that added such a cute detail to the setting! Silver utensils were placed on Burlap & Lace Luncheon Napkins to coordinate with the layering of plates. We were just thrilled with how this place setting came together!
The Centerpiece Our DIY Garden Baby Shower Centerpiece was the focal point of this adorable table. We simply painted and added some strips of Gingham Tablecloth Roll and Orange Ribbon to four DIY Square Flowerpots then added in some Natural Moss and painted letters from the DIY Alphabet Banner to spell out "BABY". Add in a few of our delicious Chocolate Covered Strawberry Carrots and you have the perfect centerpiece.
We flanked the centerpiece with two Hurricane Vases filled with fresh herbs, vegetables and flowers topped with two silver-painted DIY Ceramic Watering Can Planters that sat on Large Wood Round Centerpieces. We love how it looks like the Watering Cans are watering the centerpiece!
The Desserts As soon as we began brainstorming for this Peter Rabbit baby shower, we knew we wanted to incorporate Mr. McGregor's Garden. What better way to do so than create Mr. McGregor's Garden of Sweets?
We reached out to our good friends at Katie's Creative Baking and asked her to make some adorable (and delicious) desserts for this produce-themed sweets table! She made the most fabulous cake, cookies and vegetable fondant toppers we have ever seen!
We used a variety of products to create this look including Galvanized Bottle Vases, Galvanized Lantern Candle Holders, Large Galvanized Pails and Chipwood Baskets. Each held either flowers or vegetables that would be found at a classic garden market stand.
We created a rustic wood sign similar to this saying "Mr. McGregor's Garden of Sweets" and love the rural charm it added to the stand.
An upside down DIY Flowerbox Centerpiece was painted and distressed and then used to hold more of our Chocolate Covered Strawberry Carrots.
We aded a Split Rail Fence behind the display to bring a bit of farm ambiance to the setting.
