This pirate theme is great for boys and girls. So many cute pirate items to choose from! I love all the pops of bright color with black and white. The kids had the best time making Washi Tape Binoculars and eating “Rough Seas” Jello. They loved playing for hours with the pirate ship playhouse and individual pirate ship costumes. I tell you, watching little ones run around the yard in those mini pirate ships just might be the cutest thing ever!
First, we created a fun pirate retreat. We loved this black and white pirate tent to hang from the top of our deck. We added large red and black and white pillows inside. My favorite thing was filling up a large treasure chest with books ... lots of fun books! We tried to find all books pirate, beach, and sea to add to our treasure chest.
I loved watching the kids snuggle up in the tent with these pillows and books. The treasure chest is a fun place to store books, making it the perfect size. I loved mixing in this quiet activity during the pirate playdate. The kids loved reading in the pirate tent or the "pirate house" as they called it.
The kids loved choosing what pirate hat and accessories to wear. They had so much fun choosing between scarf hats, classic black pirate hats and scarfs. They loved to add a patch, gold earring and even a hairy mustache. The hairy mustaches were a hoot!!
WASHI TAPE BINOCULARS We loved making some pirate gear with these Washi Tape Binoculars. These were so much fun to make. All you need are a few items for this fun kid craft. The kids could make these on their own so I knew it was the perfect pirate craft for our playdate. They loved imagining with their new pirate binoculars. I love the white, red and black washi tape, with polka-dot and striped patterns.
I SPY GAME A fun game we played with our new washi tape binoculars, was "I SPY." Each kid took a turn "spying" something around the yard. They would then give "clues" until the other kids could guess what they were "spying."
TREASURE DIG Another fun activity, was our "Treasure Dig." We took a plastic container of kinetic sand (we love this stuff), and hid some rhinestone rings and coin necklaces in the sand. The kids loved digging out the treasure.
COLOR YOUR OWN PIRATE SHIP PLAYHOUSE This fun pirate playhouse provided hours of imaginative fun! We painted the pirate ship with a little watered down acrylic paint. It was such a fun project to do with my kids in preparation for their pirate playdate. I loved watching these little ones pretend it was a huge ship and that the grass was a big ocean! It was also fun to watch them pretend to be the captain of the ship. They had some good practice taking turns with their friends. The captain of the ship was able to wear the special pirate hook!
They loved carrying their pirate sword during their journey on the sea! I love this "serious" pirate with his hairy mustache!
COLOR YOUR OWN PIRATE SHIP COSTUMES These color your own pirate ship costumes were the hit of the playdate! Seriously the best! There was nothing cuter than watching these mini pirates run around the yard in their ships! We had so much fun with these. They provided hours of fun! The kids still play with their "pirate ship" often! Coloring their ship was part of the fun! I helped them paint the brown on their ship, but using washable markers, they were able to add color with red, blue and yellow around their ships.
I love the skull and cross bones flag on back. These were really easy to assemble and came with simple instructions that I could easily follow.
Hours of pirate fun in these mini ships!!
PIRATE SHIP RACES The kids loved racing in their mini pirate ships! This was such a fun activity. We would choose a finish line or "destination" and they loved seeing who could "sail" fastest!
TREASURE HUNT What pirate playdate would be complete without a treasure hunt. Using adorable treasure maps, I added clues to the back. They had fun looking in the different spots around the yard for the treasure.
They were so excited to find these mini treasure boxes filled with goodies hiding in the last clue's spot!
ROUGH SEA JELLO Now for a yummy "pirate treat". Jello is always a hit with kids. Especially this delicious jello/marshmallow recipe. So easy to make and adorable too!
They loved the mini goldfish around the jello cup.
And the sweet orange pirate boats made perfect jello cup toppers!
LAND AHOY! Goodness these little ones had fun and cannot wait for the next pirate playdate!
I loved watching their sweet imaginations as they played and enjoyed all the pirate fun!
