Pastel Unicorn Birthday Party

Pastel Unicorn Birthday Party

The unicorn trend shows no sign of slowing down and let's face it, who doesn't want a unicorn party? My daughter Parker sure did for her 6th birthday. Parker's birthday falls in early January which we all know is a super busy time of the year. So, while I wanted her party to be special and beautiful, it had to be quick and easy too! The Unicorn Sparkle party range makes whipping up a pretty, whimsical celebration a breeze. You'll love the pastels, unicorns, rainbows and sparkling gems in this collection. You can easily create this beautiful party theme at home with the gorgeous party supplies and my easy DIY's.

The Invite:

First things first, I sent out the invites. The Unicorn Sparkle Invite has a beautiful leaping unicorn that is featured throughout the line. There is plenty of space for the party details and an envelope so Parker could drop them off in each of her friends' cubbies at school.

The Table

If you're looking for a fun idea that will keep those tiny hands busy, use a roll of White Fadeless Art Paper Roll as a table cover. Parker is a budding artist and loved being able to draw on the table (or what she thought was the table!).

Don't forget to throw some pastel Unicorn-Shaped Crayons on the table for little hands to create with.

On top of the roll of white art paper, I placed my DIY Unicorn Table Runner. Check out my easy DIY that uses plastic tablecloths, sweet pastel gemstones, flowers and star embellishments to make the Unicorn Sparkle Centerpiece pop!

The Table Setting

To highlight the beautiful design of the Unicorn Sparkle Plates, I used a simple pastel Light Pink Plastic Dinner Plate underneath and placed these on top of a roll of white paper.

I then added Unicorn Sparkle Luncheon Napkins at the side of each plate with a fork and spoon from the Premium Metallic Gold Cutlery set. For younger children, I skip the knife and serve mostly finger foods.

Little kids can tend to make a little more mess than older kids. What I like about the Unicorn Sparkle Luncheon Napkins is that there are 16 per pack. I was able to place 2 at each place setting; one showing the gorgeous foil unicorn and the other rolled up with a Unicorn Candy Bracelet, a sweet surprise for a napkin ring!

I then added the Unicorn Sparkle Horn Party Horns, the cutest unicorn horn shaped hats you ever did see! Pastel perfection.

The final detail for the table was a pretty pink unicorn "tassel" tail with a flower accent added to each guest's chair. To create these, cut up a Pink Tassel Garland. Use one tassel for each chair, tie it to the seat back and add an Extra Small Faux Flower (sprayed ballet pink) by using Glue Dots.

Dessert Table

I kept the dessert table simple, covering the table with a Unicorn Sparkle Plastic Tablecloth and making a unicorn cake the feature of the table. This is a simple store-bought cake but you can use my quick and easy Unicorn Cake Topper project to give your cake a fun on-trend fun look without the price tag.

I placed Unicorn Sparkle Cups with striped straws on each side of the cake. The pastel stripes on these cups are so cute that they make great table decor. I also added one of the beautiful Sparkle Unicorn Cups as an extra glam way of holding spare straws. This would also make a great "special cup" for the birthday child.

I then added candy jars on each side of the table and filled them with mini sweet treats for the smaller kids: pastel mini marshmallows and "unicorn horn" Yellow Mini Twisty Lollipops.

I added mini rainbow accents made from polymer clay on the front of the glass candy jars for an extra dash of magic. One of Parker's (many!) unicorn toys also joined the party table, as a fun accent.

The last thing I added to the dessert table was a few extra Unicorn Sparkle Beverage Napkins for the adults. At this age, a parent is usually attending to their child. I like to have an extra napkin at the ready since parents love to get a slice of cake too!

The Backdrop

I love the pastel colors of the Unicorn Sparkle line. I selected my two favorite colors, the pale pink and the mint and used these as the palette for my Fan & Garland Dessert Table Backdrop.

The soft and pretty fans in these colors are the perfect backdrop for the Unicorn Sparkle Pennant Banner, the glittery gold heart and star garlands and frame the unicorn cake perfectly. Parker thought it was "Beautiful Mommy"!

Favors

Once Parker and her friends had well and truly tired themselves out I sent them each home with the sweetest selection of unicorn treats. I filled the Unicorn Sparkle Treat Bags with Unicorn Sparkle Blowouts, Unicorn Candy Bracelets, Unicorn Shaped Crayons, a Plush Unicorn Headband and a fun take-home sweet treat.

I iced a plain Pop Tart® and sprinkled the top with pastel and gold star sprinkles.
