Let's face it, everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day! This Pastel St. Patrick's Day Party is sure to have you saying silly phrases like "Top 'o the morning to ya" in no time! My family is one-quarter (give or take) Irish, and I have fond memories of my mom making St. Patrick's Day-inspired green food. This year I decided to celebrate the holiday with a little more color and splashed rainbows all around. The only thing missing is a real life leprechaun!

Party Decorations + Backdrop
If you're wanting friends' jaws to drop the second they walk into your St. Patrick's Day Party then I can't think of a better statement piece than this Large Gold Foil Fringe Door Curtain. It just screams, "look at me" the moment you walk in the room and provides the perfect backdrop for the tissue hanging fans, which were hung in an arched rainbow pattern. Since rainbows are everywhere these days, I opted for a lighter version of the typical Roy-G-Biv rianbow and used light pink, yellow, mint, light blue and lavender. The blue and lavender fans were White Tissue Hanging Fans that were opened up and spray-painted. Although I was a little worried the paper would lose its shape, the fans actually held up quite well.
I anchored either side of the rainbow with Jumbo White Latex Balloons, which mimicked big, puffy clouds. To create the shamrock and horseshoe rainbow banner I painted the DIY Unfinished Wood Shamrock Ornaments in colors to coordinate with the theme, then attached them to ribbon with small horseshoes from the Gold Glitter Horseshoe Garland. I'm completely enamored with the overall effect the backdrop has on the entire party!
Rainbow Table Decorations
Our gold chairs were dressed up with a bit of pastel yarn in a rainbow pattern. Each received a gold glittered DIY Unfinished Wood Shamrock Ornament as well.
The rainbow pattern was again repeated on the tabletop with the word LUCKY spelled out using Marquee Light Up Kits, which sat atop a Gold Glitter Table Runner. Each letter was painted a different pastel color then received a generous amount of gold glitter in their centers. I just love how they draw the eye in yet don't take the attention away from the main focal point of the party backdrop on the wall.
Sometimes less is more, and gold glitter goes a long way, so the remaining table decorations were kept uncomplicated by simply adding DIY Shamrock and Rainbow St. Patrick's Day Signs on either side of the "lucky" centerpiece.
Personalized Place Settings
Watercolor Rainbow Dessert Plates were placed atop Light Pink Chevron Scalloped Paper Plates. I love mixing and matching patterns with my place settings. It's a simple way to add a bit of interest to any tablescape. The key is to use complimentary colors so they don't end up clashing with each other. A Leprechaun Trap Place Card filled with Gold Coins Chocolate Candy sat in in the center of each plate in hopes of catching a leprechaun. You can download the Free Gold sign using the free printable under the supply list on the right.
In keeping with the mixing and matching, I placed Light Blue Plastic Forks on top of Lavender Luncheon Napkins. Not only were they functional items, but they added to the spectrum of colors. Rainbow Faux Leather Tassels were tied with a simple bow to the neck of milk bottles using Gold Baker's Twine.
I also placed a Pastel St. Patrick's Day Party Favor Bag next to each place setting. Every bag was filled with a Rainbow Swirl Lollipop, favor tubes which contained "Rainbow Seeds" (aka Sixlets® Easter Chocolate Candy), and a marbled shamrock cookie made by Say Anything Bakery.
Sweets & Such
The pastel rainbow goodness continued onto the dessert table in the form of a plain white cake which was rolled in a copious amount of Sprinklefetti from The Bakers Party Shop.
Jumbo marshmallows were dipped in rainbow colored chocolate candy melts, then sprinkles. And for yet another sprinkle-topped treat, I served a rainbow layered white chocolate mousse in pedestal cups with glittered mini appetizer spoons.
Hand-painted watercolor rainbow cookies from Say Anything Bakery were displayed on mini wooden easels.
While there might not be a real pot of gold at the end of our pastel rainbow, your friends will have so much fun they won't even notice. After all, aren't good friendships the real gold in life?
