Are you feeling bold? Then Pantone's 2018 Color of the Year, Ultra Violet is for you! Original, provocative, inventive and imaginative, these are just some of the descriptions of this lush blue-based purple. For this wedding reception, I paired ultraviolet with sophisticated rose gold and lush greenery for a dramatic and elegant color palette. For a fresh spring or summer wedding reception, I also used contrasting purples and lavender toned florals. The whole look is vibrant and eye-catching.
Create Striking Tables:
As an earthy contrast to the vibrant violets and metallics I used in the table decor, I chose to keep the exposed wood-top table. This also ties in with natural elements used in the dessert table décor.
In the center of the table, I went with a dramatic taller centerpiece and then used Purple Rose Petals down the center of the table to each side of the arrangement. For a little sparkle, I scattered Purple Crystals over the petals. I also placed small orchids on top of the petals.
Florals are the perfect way to rock the violet look. I used Violet with shades of lilac, deep purple, green, fuchsia and white to brighten up the arrangement and create a reflective quality to really make the violet pop.
There are so many gorgeous flowers you can choose from at this time of year, tulips, clematis, anemone, hyacinth, veronica, iris, lily, dahlia, stock, allium, carnation, sweet pea, and hydrangea are some of my favorites.
To either side of the center floral, I sat Floating Candle Bowls filled with water and dramatic floating orchids. To bring in more of the metallics I sat the bowls on top of Large Palm Leaves I sprayed rose gold. I then used on-trend Faux Succulent Picks sprayed violet & rose gold as accents.
The final addition to this tabletop, romantic Pillar &; flameless candles of varying heights.
Elegant Place Settings:
Each place setting started with a Gold Charger I had sprayed rose gold (please note the charger is not food safe when sprayed).
To fit with the florals, I topped the chargers with White Elegance Premium Plastic Dinner Plates, these have a lovely soft edge. On-top of these I added Plastic Purple Desert Plates with the same soft edge. I folded the violet napkins into a double fan and secured them at the center with Purple Sheer Ribbon and violets.
Premium Metallic Rose Gold Cutlery was placed at each setting along with a Clear Patterned Plastic Wine Glass, Cylinder Champagne Flute and a Purple Stemless Plastic Wine Glass as a water glass.
Violet Floral and Greenery Asymmetrical Arch:
One of my favorite elements of this wedding reception is the DIY Floral & Greenery Asymmetrical Arch. I used the arch over the dessert table, but don't be limited by my design. It could also be used as an altar, ceremony arch, photo backdrop or entrance to your wedding reception. I wrapped soft and floaty fabrics, a variety of greens, florals and dramatic rose gold leaves to the Backdrop Banner Frame to create a picturesque overhang above the dessert table.
This was a simple and lovely way to add a romantic, statement piece to the event. Follow my tutorial here!
Whimsical Suspended Cake:
For the cake display, I combined nature and glamour. I chose a dramatic 2-tier Ultra Violet Bas Relief Cake. This is an elegant new cake trend I am loving for 2018.
The cake was topped with Personalized Monogram Round Cake Topper in purple with a natural design.
Then as a nod to spring, I suspended the cake over the dessert table on a DIY Garden Swing Cake Display. Find out how I created the wood & rope swing display here!
Dessert Table:
The dessert table, another natural wood table, was topped with vibrant shades of violet and metallics. I brought in the rich metallics with a rose gold sequin table runner lined with Purple Tulle. To each side, I scattered more rose petals.
On the right, I placed the Rose Gold Candle Holder Set and used rose petals, orchids, and purple & rose gold sprayed Faux Succulent Picks as accents.
In front of these, a simple touch of modern elegance, a Floating Candle Bowl filled with orchids atop a rose gold sprayed palm leaf.
On the left, another palm leaf. This time I sat Purple Patterned Champagne Flutes and champagne for the happy couple to toast with when they cut the cake.
Behind the champagne on a rose gold cake stand: the dessert. These Marbled Donuts with Gold Gilding & Edible Flowers are a delicious, cost-effective and stunning dessert option. Make sure you make enough for seconds!
Say yes to vibrant and bold with Ultra Violet! Your guests will be swooning as they take their seats!
