Everyday is Halloween in Tim Burton's epic, animated movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas. This year we wanted to bring this creepy cast of characters to life for a The Nightmare Before Christmas Themed Party. This party is clad in a classically creepy palette of black, white orange and purple and features a bewitchingly breathtaking DIY Backdrop, creepily cute DIY Coffin Place Cards and bone-chilling DIY Coffin for Jack Skellington himself. So, prepare to get your creep on as we take you on an epic journey to Halloween Town!
Jack Skellington is the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town and the king of our party decor as well!
The Place Settings
Each ghastly guest's place setting was comprised of a Nightmare Before Christmas Dinner Plate atop a Purple Dinner Napkin, along with a Nightmare Before Christmas Luncheon Napkin; which was home to a Purple premium Plastic Fork.
One of our favorite details from our spooky place settings were the DIY Coffin Place Cards we crafted. We added a coat of Lavender Paint to a DIY Wood Coffin then used Black Acrylic Paint a Yellow Cardstock moon and a Black & White Striped Hard Candy Disc to recreate the iconic Spiral Hill landscape imagery from the movie.
You can find the full tutorial for the DIY Coffin Place Cards here!
We decorated Glass Milk Bottles with a thick piece of Black and White Striped Ribbon, a thinner piece of Orange Ribbon and a Jack Skellington face cut from a Nightmare Before Christmas Luncheon Napkin.
The bottles were filled with purple Kool-Aid® and topped with a Purple Striped Straw.
Our Halloween Town enthusiasts were also given a Candy and Lollipop-filled White Mini Pail decorated with another Jack Skellingtonleton Face!
The Table Decor
We wanted pops of color throughout the table, so we added strips of orange and purple ribbon to a Black and White Striped Table Runner using Hot Glue.
We placed a Jack Skellington Pumpkin Decoration Kit into a White Craft Pumpkin to use as the centerpiece of our table. Each plastic piece in the decoration kit can be pushed into a real or faux pumpkin to create Jack's face. No carving required!
Jack's pumpkin face was flanked by two black chalk-painted bottles.
We used color coordinating Chalk Markers to label the bottles with Worm's Wart and Frog's Breath (both references from the movie).
Each bottle was topped with a piece of signage from The Nightmare Before Christmas Photo Booth Kit while Sally and Oogie Boogie's faces were added to Bamboo Skewers and placed inside Vintage Mercury Potion Bottles.
The Backdrop
Our party table sat in front of an eerily enchanting DIY Backdrop. We wanted to create the movie's classic background and did so by covering our wall in Fadeless Violet Paper.
We completed our backdrop by adding a few black bats and Jack Skellington himself. You can find the step-by-step instructions for this Nightmare Before Christmas Party Backdrop here!
We also created a DIY Jack Skellington Coffin as a part of our backdrop decor.
A Stand-Up Cardboard Coffin was painted and decorated with Black Sharpie swirls and adorned with Orange Ribbon, a few bewitching bats and a Free Printable Coffin Gift Tag.

The Spooky Sweets
Our sweets were showcased on a small table that was topped with a Nightmare Before Christmas Plastic Table Cover, which made for a super easy clean-up once the party was over.
We were lucky enough to find some Halloween-themed treats at our local grocery store and they looked frighteningly fabulous as a part of our spread!
An orange-spiral cake was decorated with color coordinating sprinkles, more props from The Nightmare Before Christmas Photo Booth Kit , Purple Striped Hard Candy Discs and a few, delicious Black Swirl Lollipops. Bat and Jack-o-lantern shaped brownies were equally loved and devoured!
