Nautical Themed Wedding

Nautical Themed Wedding

When it comes to wedding decor, nautical is always on trend! Sailors, swimmers, surfers, ocean and beach-lovers—incorporate your love for the sea with cool hues, rope accents and seaside motifs. You can tie these details into a beach or destination wedding, or incorporate them into other venues for a fresh nautical look.

The new nautical wedding is less about preppy stripes, anchors and knots and more about watercolor and waves. Think softly shipwrecked, an edgy yet clean and contemporary seaside look. You will love this gorgeous muted blue ombre palette accented by shells and driftwood.

Create a Romantic Windswept Look

I started by draping the room with Decorative Fish Net Wall Decoration and soft, floaty fabrics like gauze. This creates a windswept, beachy look and feel.

I also draped the Natural Fish Net Wall Decoration over the chairs to create unique seat back decor. This is a cost effective option for incorporating throughout the entire reception. I tied these with a smoky gray blue fabric bow.

Sit at Soft Beachcomber Tables

The same fishing net is used down the middle of the table as a table runner, with a length of natural cording for added depth and texture. New-Soft-Nautical-Wedding--Content-Vertical-3

On top of the fishing net I used a large piece of driftwood. If you live near the coast, why not spend a day beach combing for the perfect pieces of wood for your table.

Give the look of seaside treasure and decorate the driftwood with a mix of blush florals and beach finds. I used a selection of starfish, faux sea greens, succulents, Faux Mountain Grass Sprays and sea sponges.

At each end of the table I placed more Faux Mountain Grass Sprays in White Cutout Dot Candle Holders. Accenting these with blush roses, seashells, small glass orbs and a Blue Glass Spheres With Rope.

Be sure to download the free printable ombre table number here. I placed this in a White Table Frame that was wrapped with Natural Cording.  Download the free Ombré Table Numbers here!

I softened this with pretty details like starfish and sea greens.

Serve a Chocolate Fish for Dinner

The place settings are layered, starting with the soft edges of White Scalloped Chargers. Next, I used a Silver Rimmed Paper Dinner Plate and dessert plate with a blue plate in between. Silver is the perfect metallic accent for this palette, it is also incorporated in the Premium Metallic Silver Cutlery.

On top of the place setting I placed a fun chocolate sardine, an after dinner treat, on top of a Moon Seashell place card. I used my Cricut to cut the names for the shells. Alternatively use a calligrapher (or if you have neat handwriting this is a great DIY) to write these or use silver alphabet stickers to achieve the look.

I dyed White Craft Gauze Cheesecloth a soft blue to create napkins for each setting, tying these and draping them softly over each place setting.

For the reception I served a Blue Ombre Cocktail. Find out how to make this delicious, fresh lemonade based drink HERE. It is served in a Clear Stemless Plastic Wine Glass on top of a Seashell Coaster next to a Premium Clear Crystal Plastic Wine Glass for dinner.

"Shell" I get you a Piece of Cake

I used a gray tablecloth for the cake table, tying it with natural cording. Mercury Votive Holders are added to the table to provide a soft candlelight glow to the cake.

This silver and gray palette perfectly accents the gorgeous ombre cake from Confection Deception.

Create your own cake accents and topper by softly painting Moon Seashells ombre blue.

Unhook Your Seat

I also used this ombre painting technique on the shells in my DIY Nautical Seating Chart. Get the full DIY HERE.

Mix it up by using unpainted shells for table numbers and painted the shells for each guest. "Catching" guests by table.

Be "Shore" to Take a Favor

I don't know about you but I don't think I will ever tire of nautical puns! LOL. The favor (aka the sand bar) is the perfect place to try out your best nautical puns.

To give the favor table a soft, romantic look & feel use more fishing net and add a floaty gray chiffon table runner. On top of this I used gorgeous nautical accents like the Coastal Seaside Sailboat Centerpiece.

There is so much variety when you are using salt as a favor. Use rock salt, a pink Himalayan salt for the beautiful coloring or provide a delicious infused salt for home cooking or popcorn making. Get the DIY details for creating this salty take home favor HERE.
