I love watching football, and it’s even more fun when you’re watching it with friends. It’s become a tradition for us to host an annual football watch party and every year I try to find ways to make it both fun and easy. I don’t want to stress out about planning a party, making food and figuring out how to keep it all warm. This Touchdown Nacho Bar is the perfect solution. You can prepare most of the food ahead of time, there is little prep work involved, and all you have to do on game day is make sure to keep the condiment containers full. Now that is what I call a touchdown!
Like most of my parties, simplicity is key. With three active kids and busy work schedules I don’t have the time or energy to plan an over-the-top celebration for a party where most people will be glued to the TV. You can recreate this party in no time and with just a few key supplies.
Make a statement with a DIY Lombardi Football Trophy centerpiece. I was inspired by the NFL® Super Bowl LI Luncheon Napkins I ordered and decided to recreate the logo as our centerpiece. I used giant Mylar letter balloons and the DIY Lombardi Football Trophy to replicate this look. This was an easy way to make a big impact. Create a football play backdrop behind the table with the black art paper. I think if I were to redo this though I would have extended the paper on both sides of the table, the balloons were so big they overlapped it a bit and it drove the perfectionist in me a little nuts.
I added other balloons to fill in the space, and even made a few DIY football play balloons with black balloons and a white paint pen.
The food for this Touchdown Nacho Bar is easy peasy. Fill football serving trays with your favorite chips and add your favorite condiments like sour cream, cheese, guacamole and salsa.
This nacho bar wouldn't be a touchdown with only a few toppings, now would it? I filled football chili cups with some of our favorite nacho toppings like carnitas, jalapeños, and homemade salsa. The sky is the limit here. Think of your favorite toppings and fill the bowls up!
My favorite part of this nacho bar is the Cheesy Chili Dip. This hearty dip is so good your guest may be tempted to eat it by its self with a spoon!
Every celebration needs a sweet ending and these football fan cupcakes are an easy way to end the night. I used store-bought cupcakes and sprayed them with edible silver color mist. Put a lollipop stick in one of the mini foam fingers and you have an instant football worthy dessert.
I had mini buckets leftover from our Football Bingo Game and decided to fill a few of them with cheese sticks for our Touchdown Nacho Bar. These little buckets are a fun way to serve yummy treats and make snacking while watching the big game easy too.
Speaking of Football Bingo, everyone at the party will love watching the game and the commercials to see who can yell "BINGO" first and win the prize.
This football party is super simple, but packed full of fun. Even if your favorite team didn't make it to the big game you and your friends will still have a blast cheering on the teams, playing football bingo and snacking on nachos smothered in cheesy chili dip. Now that is what we like to call winning!
