Monster Classroom Halloween Party

Monster Classroom Halloween Party

Hosting a classroom party is exciting yet so exhausting! Some teachers have support from parents whereas others may be on their own. I have found over my career of teaching that there are a few must-haves that each party needs to include in order to be successful. All classroom parties need to include a small setting the stage area, a snack, small crafts, and little gift. Check out how I used a monster theme to throw a quick and easy Halloween party!

Set the Scene

Throwing a classroom party can be difficult since the room needs to be used all day long for learning! Over the years, I have learned to make one area of the classroom the focal point of the party. I always pick an area that will still allow my classroom to run as normal as possible.

To set the scene for this Monster Classroom Party, I created a simple backdrop on my white board. I used magnets to hold up Black Fadeless Paper. Using Mavalus Mult-Purpose Adhesive Tape, I attached Paper Pom-Poms, Mini Monster Paper Pennant Banner, and Monster Weaving Mat Craft Kit. You can check out how I used the Monster Craft for a writing prompt here.

A great way to start off any classroom party is to put your students to work immediately! This way they are busy creating something, while you finish getting the final materials ready to go or visit with helpers.

My students created these very simple and adorable cups using Jack-O'-Lantern Face Stickers and Lime or Black Plastic Tumblers. If students finished early, they turned to a partner and explained their cup using as many adjectives as possible. This was a quick and easy way to throw in a little bit of academics.

The best tip I could give any teacher throwing a classroom party is to keep the snack SIMPLE! Students don't care how long it took you to create the treat. Let's be honest, they just want a treat! I am a big fan of store-bought treats that I can decorate with other accent pieces or you can even let students. The Realistic Earthworms are perfect for a Halloween party. The name is correct, they look so real and my students were a little scared about eating them! I added Black Googly Eyes for fun. My students absolutely loved this quick snack and it was so much fun to watch their reactions.

To stay with the monster theme, my students created a Silly-Make-A-Monster Sticker Scene. This type of craft is my favorite because it required no glue, cutting, and all the pieces are on two sheets!

I like to keep things moving in my classroom during a classroom party to ensure that students never have idle hands and are always looking forward to the next activity. A few rounds of Halloween Bingo is the perfect game to play that is quick, easy, and engaging. I love that the only prep work was to punch out the markers, which students could do independently. For an added touch, have students become monsters by wearing the Monster Party Glasses!

Each year, I like to send my students off with a Trick-or-Treat Good Bag, a few pieces of a candy, and a lollipop. My students are huge fans of all "themed" lollipops, especially these adorable monsters! The Twisty Lollipops are another favorite that are always picked out of our classroom treasure box.

I hope I shared some tips to help you pull off a successful Halloween classroom party!
