While I typically consider myself a color-loving gal, there's something decidedly comforting about the monochromatic look of black and white accompanied by pops of gold and greenery here and there. I was afraid the decor for my Black and White Modern Farmhouse Christmas Party would feel a bit sparse and cold, but instead I was pleasantly surprised by how cozy and inviting it turned out! This party would be perfect for hosting a get-together with your girlfriends or family alike. Whether you call it Scandinavian or farmhouse, or a mix of the two, I adore this style and am ready to apply the minimalist approach to decorating the rest of my house.

Decorations + Backdrop
Clean lines and crisp whites were the basis for the modern approach to the farmhouse style I was going for. The shiplap wall was brought to life with a rustic tree branch, which helped to bring a bit of the outdoors in and softened the harsh lines. Simple white tissue snowflakes, black tissue hanging fans and my DIY Black and White Marbled Ornaments were strung from the branch using classic black satin ribbon, black and gold bakers twine, and black and white striped ribbon.
The black lantern set was filled with gold ornaments and adorned with striped ribbon and a bit of greenery. A smaller table next to the dessert table was the perfect spot for the larger lantern, along with one of the tabletop Christmas trees. Having a Christmas tree on either side of the dessert table added balance and symmetry, which I find so aesthetically pleasing.
Festive Chair Backers
Adding something as simple as a DIY Boxwood Wreath Chair Backer to the bright white chairs really helped bring the whole room to life. Since they are not overly Christmasy, they could easily be left hanging long after the holiday decorations have been packed away.
Setting the Table
Table decorations don't have to be overly complicated. Sometimes less is more, and I definitely felt that was the case with this party. I created an effortless table runner using black and white striped ribbon down the center of the table, and tied a few of my DIY Black and White Marbled Ornaments to each end. Gold geometric terrarium candle holder was filled with faux snow and black sisal trees. The terrariums flanked a simple tabletop Christmas tree, which together made for a minimalistic, yet eye-catching centerpiece.
Sweets as Centerpieces
And speaking of centerpieces, why should all the sweets be relegated to the dessert table? Consider adding a few bite-sized treats to your table, especially ones that blend seamlessly with your décor and color palette. I added pretty gold-wrapped truffles to crystal pedestal bowls and black and white cookies tied up with gold striped ribbon on cupcake stands. They both looked (almost) too pretty to eat!
Place Settings
Gold chevron dinner plates were layered with black polyester linen napkins and a bold Christmas dessert plate. I love mixing and matching patterns to add a bit more texture to the table. The premium gold metallic cutlery looked extra charming tied up with black and white striped ribbon and a bit of greenery. And because I love carrying the same feature throughout a party, the gold rimmed plastic wine glasses also received a bit of black and white ribbon and looked festive sitting atop the bold Christmas beverage napkins.
Christmas Gift Place Cards
Adding a personalized gift to each place setting is a sweet way to make your guests feel loved. Send them home with a DIY Black and White Marbled Ornament boxed up in a pretty gold glitter favor box as a token of gratitude for their friendship, as well as a way for them to remember the fun that was had together.
Sweet Treats
No party would be complete without a little something to satisfy your guests' sweet tooth! You can never go wrong with cupcakes in my opinion, and just because you don't have time to bake them yourself doesn't mean they don't have to look like you spent hours on them. I dressed up these store-bought cupcakes with gold sprinkles, black and white striped cupcake wrappers and topped them off with pretty Marbled Chocolate Christmas Trees. I also served a white chocolate mousse brownie parfait. Nothing could be better than chocolate served with a bit more chocolate, and it coordinated with our theme perfectly so it was definitely a win! I love the modern pattern of the bold Christmas fabric table runner, which added just the perfect hint of texture and color to the white table.
Keep the Party Going
If you're like me, you probably don't pack your Christmas décor away until after New Year's. With little to no effort, you could easily transform this party into a New Year's Eve celebration! To achieve this look, I simply changed out the tabletop Christmas tree with a gold bottle brush tree, and added the New Year's party appetizer plates and coordinating beverage napkins. Their black and white stripes were a match made in heaven with my decorations! I just adore the "bubbly celebrate sparkle" saying on the beverage napkin, and couldn't resist swapping the wine glasses for clear champagne flutes, with gold foil striped paper straws! Who knew just a few modifications could make such a big difference.
