Modern Black and White Farmhouse Thanksgiving Table

You don't need to spend a lot of time & money to make a beautiful and inviting table setting this Thanksgiving. This year I'm embracing the black and white buffalo check trend, that is going to be hot this holiday season, and creating a stylish rustic and modern black and white farmhouse Thanksgiving table.

There are aspects of Thanksgiving that can feel overwhelming, aligning family schedules or perfecting grandma's secret cranberry sauce. But at the heart of Thanksgiving are the big things that overcome those little things togetherness, warmth, and love. The dinner table is the heart of Thanksgiving celebrations, and creating a beautiful table for the occasion doesn't have to be overwhelming. With some simple decorations and personalized accessories you can transform your everyday table into an extraordinary place for memories to be made!

I personally love the farmhouse design trend, it's fits well with my personality and home decor. My grandparents live on a farm in an old farmhouse, which may be part of the reason why I'm drawn to this popular trend. But, I also feel like the farmhouse design style easily lends itself to simpler times and nostalgic feelings of home, which is ideal for Thanksgiving where families gather together around the table for good food great conversation and lots of laughter.

To create a welcoming Thanksgiving table setting I started with a crisp white tablecloth and layered it with the black & white plastic table cloth to create a table runner. Once I had the table runner in place I used several of the wood large round centerpiece to add texture to the table.

On top of the wood pieces I added white antler candle holders and black and white pumpkins. I love how the candles gave the table some height while not blocking the view of the guest on the other side.

I wanted to stick with a very neutral color palette for this rustic farmhouse inspired table setting so I filled in the centerpiece a cotton garland, more pumpkins and antler table toppers. In the center of the table I pulled in the black & white buffalo plaid theme with a DIY painted buffalo check pumpkin centerpiece. I love how this one pumpkin stood out as the focal point of the table.

Thanksgiving is one of those occasions where no matter how informal your celebration is place cards always seem to make an appearance. I actually love using place cards, not only does it help mix up your everyday routine it makes everyone feel just a little bit more special. I created black & white buffalo check place card printables and wrote each guest name on them. I used the faux birch place card holders to display them in front of each place setting.

My least favorite part of Thanksgiving is the enormous amount of dishes that need to be done after the meal is over. I've started making things so much easier by using disposable plates and utensils. I love these premium metallic gold cutlery, that look elegant enough for your special occasions, but are practical for large groups. I also used a Black and White Premium Plastic Dessert Plate with gold and black border to add depth to the place setting. For the charger I had these natural weave placemats that I've had for years, but I think these gold metallic string placemats or burlap chargers would look beautiful on your table.

Finally, I printed out the buffalo plaid Thanksgiving conversation cards and tied them to little white pumpkins with black ribbon. I love how these conversation cards prompt family and friends to reflect on the things they are thankful for, to share funny memories and to dream big for the future. It's a great way to keep the conversation flowing and everyone lingering longer around the dinner table.
