Pop the (baby) bottles and host a bash for your friends and family to celebrate the arrival of your new little bundle! We love hosting sip & sees because the mama can relax and partake with her friends and you get the added bonus of squishing on the adorable new baby! Although styled as a baby boy sip & see, this theme could easily transition to a baby shower or you could make it girly by swapping out the pastel blue for pastel pink. The monochromatic elements make the theme feel more modern, while still retaining a classic feel. So, raise a toast to the new mama and daddy and get ready to be inspired!
Modern, Monochromatic Party Decor with a Pop of Blue
Although we have been dying to create a party with a monochromatic black and white color palette, we couldn't resist throwing in a few baby blue details with a touch of greenery here and there!
By far the most eye-catching element of the party was our DIY Baby Bottle Backdrop. Everyone's favorite part was our baby bottle play on the popular champagne bottle popping into a bevy of balloon "bubbles"!
We created a simple balloon garland using Black 9" Latex Balloons, White 9" Latex Balloons, Black 11" Latex Balloons and White 11" Latex Balloons and then hung them on the wall as if they were bursting out of the Blue Welcome Baby Bottle Mylar Balloon. 1" GlueDots® Extra Large Clear Adhesive Dots nicely secured the balloon to the wall.
Jumbo Bulletin Board Letters, a DIY Photo Booth Backdrop Board and Blue Baby Bottle Favor Containers were used to create the backdrop itself, which made for an awesome background for selfies once everyone had finished eating. You can find all the steps to create your own DIY Baby Bottle Backdrop here.
Black, White and Beautiful Tablescape
We had fun playing with textures and added in simple whimsical elements to create the centerpiece for our dining table. A crisp white tablecloth was the perfect jumping off point.
Four DIY Unfinished Wood Block Banks were first painted solid black then received irregular white polka dots. Wooden letters spelling out the word "baby" were then painted light blue and attached to the blocks using hot glue.
The baby blocks were then interspersed with the rest of our tablescape decor items down the center of the table.
Clear Glass Milk Bottles turned vases were coated with white paint and then filled with florals and Fern Leaf Stems. They were a playful and cheeky nod to our "poppin' bottles" theme.
Small fern plants sat comfortably in black and white painted DIY Ceramic Mini Flowerpots and were tucked into our tablescape here and there along with Pastel Blue Baby Bottle Favor Containers that had been painted solid blue.
Modern Yet Classic Place Settings
We were obsessed with how the black and gold trim around the Premium Black & White Plastic Dinner Plates popped off the crisp white tablecloth and set the tone for the whole look of the table.
Baby Bottle Shaped Dinner Plates added the cuteness factor to each place setting and made sure the overall look wasn't too stuffy.
Layering Fern Leaf Stems and black and white napkins between the plates provided dimension so the monochrome design didn't fall flat. The handles of Gold Hammered Cutlery received a bit of black paint and rounded out the look of the place settings.
Clear Patterned Champagne Flutes, ready to be filled with bubbly once the bottles were popped, added just the right amount of sophistication and elegance to our table.
Sweets & Treats
As our sip & see was hosted during the brunch hour, we served a host of sweets that are yummy no matter the time of day!
Mini chocolate chip cookie sandwiches and Oreo cookies fit snugly into Half-Gallon Cylinder Jars with Lids and perfectly color coordinated with our theme's monochrome palette.
DIY Ceramic Mini Flowerpots were placed at each end of our dessert table and filled with simple leafy green plants that sat next to Pastel Blue Baby Bottle Favor Containers which were coated with light blue paint to continue with the theme of the sip & see.
Games and Favors
Fun games aren't just for baby showers - challenge your guests to a contest to see who can find the most pacifiers hidden throughout your space! We set up a game station using an Acrylic Riser Set to corral all the components and printed the free printable instructions, found here, onto white cardstock and then attached it using Glue®Dots.
Pastel Blue Opaque Pacifier Favors were hidden and guests then used DIY Mini White Cotton Drawstring Treat Bags to collect them. Find all the details to set up your own Pacifier Hunt Game here.
Reward the top three winners of the pacifier hunt game with their own Baby Bottle Trophy! See how we created these prizes using Blue Baby Bottle Favor Containers, Pastel Blue Opaque Favor Containers and DIY Ceramic Mini Flowerpots here.
Don't let your other guests go home empty handed! Thank all who came with a confectionery delight of white and black chocolate candies wrapped up in Small Clear Cellophane Gift Bags tied up with ribbon.
We hope you have found some inspiration to host your own modern monochromatic sip & see! Be sure to pop over to get the details to create your own DIY Baby Bottle Backdrop, Pacifier Hunt Game and DIY Baby Bottle Trophies!
