Mistletoe and Margaritas Holiday Cocktail Party

Mistletoe and Margaritas Holiday Cocktail Party

I always look forward to hosting our annual holiday party, and this year we decided to celebrate with some festive Southwest flair. This cactus-inspired Mistletoe and Margaritas Holiday Cocktail Party is full of vibrant colors and a casual vibe that is perfect for toasting both holiday traditions and good friends!

I love entertaining and hosting parties during the holidays, but sometimes it can be challenging to find a date and time that works for everyone. Last year I hosted an open house Jingle and Mingle party where friends could pop in and come and go as their schedules allowed. This was the perfect way to celebrate the holidays with our friends so I decided my Mistletoe and Margaritas party would have the same open house-style format that worked so well last year

I wanted guests to feel at home and make it easy for them to mix and mingle, so I set up a festive bar cart. I used my favorite DIY Metallic Bar Cart and created a colorful focal point behind it with red tissue hanging fans, felt ball garland and a DIY cactus banner I made using the cactus party food picks.

I made a simple cactus and mistletoe centerpiece using the DIY unfinished wood planter box, faux succulent picks, tissue cactus centerpieces and faux mistletoe. To give it some extra holiday flair, I wrapped the saguaro cactus with a mini ornament garland.

Friends could fill their glasses and toast each other with the signature cranberry margarita cocktail served in the fun cactus drink dispenser. I kept the bar cart stocked with cactus plastic margarita glasses, cactus tumblers, tequila lime snack mix, sweet treats and plenty of napkins.

An ordinary Christmas tree wouldn't do for this fiesta-themed celebration, so I used a giant inflatable cactus and wrapped it with LED Christmas lights and then topped it with a felt Santa hat. Pretty packages wrapped with red and white paper and adorned with ribbon, succulents and DIY Cactus Ornaments surrounded the base of the cactus.

Since this party was more of an informal come-and-go cocktail party I didn't need a formal table setting. I did, however, want to create several spaces throughout the house where guest could pull up a chair, grab a snack and chat. I used red and white wrapping paper to create a table runner and then scattered red and gold ornaments and succulents around the DIY wood terrarium centerpiece. To make this centerpiece I simply filled the terrarium with sand, added a succulent, cactus party food picks and ornaments. I also set a few place settings with the Christmas Cactus paper goods.
