Bello! Wouldn't it be amazing to create a Minions-themed scene for your trunk or treat? Yeah, we think so, too! You can do it, and we'll walk you through the whole trunk-or-treat idea. Just grab some supplies and follow along with our easy DIY to decorate your trunk for a trunk-or-treat experience Minion fans of all ages will adore!
To begin, line the back of the trunk with Sky and Cloud Paper and then use Mavalus tape to adhere Banana Bulletin Board Cutouts to the paper.
Hang yellow plastic and purple metallic fringe table skirts across the top of the open trunk and secure a purple table skirt across the bottom of the open trunk. Trim the table skirts to fit as needed.
Let's add some fun DIY Minion-inspired Halloween lanterns! To make the bat Minion lantern, glue a length of black steamer all the way around a purple lantern. Download, print and cut out the template by clicking here. Cut a circle of white cardstock to fit inside of a silver paper dessert plate. Adhere the eye and white cardstock circle to the inside of the paper plate. Cut two large bat wings from purple foam and adhere on either side of the lantern.
Now to make the ghost and mummy Minion lanterns. For the ghost lantern, paint the top half of a yellow lantern with white acrylic paint. Once the paint is dry, glue lengths of white streamers all the way around the middle of the lantern. Glue a length of black streamer around the middle of the lantern, covering the cut edge of the white streamers. Download, print and cut out the eye and arms template. Cut circles of white cardstock to fit inside two silver paper dessert plates. Adhere the eyes to the white cardstock circles. Then add eyelids by gluing yellow cardstock to the top third of the eyes and cutting off the excess. Adhere the eyes and arms to the lantern. Repeat for the mummy lantern but no painting is needed and wrap the lantern with white streamers. Hang the completed lanterns from the trunk door.
Next, use acrylic paint and brushes to paint DIY Unfinished Wood Banner Squares. We painted ours yellow and purple, but you can choose whatever colors you like. Once the paint is dry, secure black bulletin board letters to the banner squares, spelling out "BOO-NANA". To finish the banner, thread the squares onto a length of string and then hang it across the front of the bumper. Decorate the table skirts and the inside of the trunk with the remaining Banana Cutouts. Banana!
Now we'll add some goodies. Download, print and cut out the 'Boo-nana' Crate Labels. Tape the labels to the Brown Wood Crates.
Fill the crates with a healthy snack of bananas, plus some Plush Bananas or for fun! Stack some crates alongside the car and place a couple in the trunk. You can even add a Dig VBS Crate Stand Up to fill in the scene. And of course, you (and mostly the kids!) will want a little candy. Fill Large Galvanized Pails with Laffy Taffy in - wait for it - banana flavor, and then place the pails in the trunk.
To really impress little Minions, remember to wear a Minions costume to give kids the full Minions trunk-or-treat experience. Poopaye!
