Mickey and Minnie Party Ideas

Mickey and Minnie Party Ideas

Picking a theme for a joint birthday party is never easy, especially when the birthday kiddos are turning one and three. But to save some stress and make it a little easier for our out-of-town family, we threw a joint Mickey and Minnie-themed birthday party! Pinterest is filled with great ideas but here are some of the easy ways we brought some Mickey and Minnie cheer to our special day!

To tie everything together, we stuck to a red, black and white theme. I set up our kitchen table as the food table, filled it with sweets and appetizers, and used solid white bowls, cake stands, a cupcake stand and black and white striped popcorn boxes and napkins to complete the look.

Since we were hosting such a big group, I used Mickey and Minnie cakes as our main centerpiece. I ordered these through a local bakery, but the ears and bow could easily be made from fondant.  They were such a hit and looked perfect on the white ceramic cake stand.  I also used red polka dot wrapping paper as a runner, but a black and white striped runner would have looked cute too!

You can never have too many treats at a party, so why not have cupcakes too! I loved these cupcakes from Two Sisters and they were so easy to make – just add a few mini Oreos and a candy bow dress up a simple cupcake. I also added some black and white striped washi tape to the white cupcake tower to add a little extra Mickey flair.

If you're hosting a first birthday, a photo-ready high chair is a must! I just used red, black and white stripe and red polka dot ribbon to add some flair to my little one’s chair. We also used her week-by-week photos as a fun decoration, plus it's a sweet way to see her growth over the year.

I love milk bottles! I added a Mickey sticker and poked a hole in the lid to add the polka-dot straw (and make them a little more kid-friendly)! Put a silver sharpie next to your drink station so friends can claim their Mickey bottle.

I made these hanging Mickey and Minnie’s to hang above the kitchen table by simply adding ears to a classic black pom. I also used the red polka dot lantern to carry the color scheme throughout the room.

Inspired by our Poke-a-Pumpkin game, I made a Poke-a-Mickey! This was such a hit with the kiddos. All you need to make it is black cups, tissue paper, rubber bands and Mickey Favor Pack or candy. Attach the cups to a poster board (the thicker foam core works better) with hot glue. Once dry, add a little toy or piece of candy, and then cover the top of the cup with a circle of tissue paper. Secure it to the cup with a rubber band.  It was so fun to see the kids' faces when they poked out their prize, especially my little birthday boy!

I loved this easy Mickey treat from Two Sisters – Mickey Mouse Pretzel Bites!  All you need is mini and regular M&Ms, square pretzels and white chocolate. The color sorting of the red and brown M&Ms was a fun activity for my 3-year-old (even if he ate a few)! I lined up the finished pretzel bites on a long white platter and then added them to the food table.
