Who needs Aaron Samuels, when you have your besties by your side? Grab the burn book and invite your squad over for a Galentine's Day party that is so amazing even Regina George would say it's, "So fetch!" Drawing inspiration from one of our all-time fave movies, Mean Girls, we hosted a party that celebrates friendship and fun with a pretty pastel lavender and pink color palette. And don't worry, unlike the original plastics, we'll allow the wearing of pink on Wednesdays and every other day of the week too! Be sure to download the free Mean Girls printables here to get the party started!
We drew inspiration from the official Mean Girls movie poster for party color palette and were so obsessed with the outcome!
Giant silver mylar balloons spelled out the phrase "so fetch" across the back wall and all our guests knew right away this wasn't a regular party, it was a cool party!
Each letter was inflated using a straw and was then sprayed with candy pink paint.
Next, we splatter painted each balloon with gold, lavender and fuschia paint for an added layer of visual interest.
Balloon garlands always bring an element of fun to parties, so we couldn't resist hanging a small pink, lavender and hot pink color blocked garland over our dessert table. An Iridescent Metallic Fringe Tablecloth was cut into smaller sections and attached to the garland to give it a bit of glam.
The Tablescape
We tied the balloon decor to our tablescape by carrying the splatter paint effect over onto our DIY tablecloth. This was created by first dripping gold, lavender and pink paint onto a roll of white bulletin board paper and then taping it around our tabletop. DIY Unfinished Wood Mini Hearts were painted in coordinating colors and sprinkled down the center of the table.
Hexagon Table Frames filled with cheeky quotes based on the movie, served as one half of our main centerpiece. A light coat of candy pink paint easily transformed the frames to better coordinate with the theme's color palette.
My fave quote was our take on Gretchen Wieners' exclamation of, "You can't sit here!"
My second favorite sign incorporated the made up term "grool" coined by Caty in the movie!
Each of the quotes were printed onto white cardstock and then clipped into the frames. Small groupings of dried flowers were wrapped with gold washi tape and sat on the base of each frame to liven them up a bit.
A mix of pink and white dried florals were tucked into Purple Textured Glass Vases to fill the spaces between the three frames. The vases first received a coat of lavender paint that helped them mesh with our other decor items.
Valentine Heart Glitter Picks also received a coat of lavender paint before being tucked into each of the vases for an added pop of color.
You CAN Sit with Us
We set a table that ensured everyone felt welcome!
We love layering our plates and napkins to bring more visual interest to our place settings.
For this party Light Pink Square Paper Dinner Plates were the base for Candy Pink Dessert Plates that were layered atop Round Lavender Dinner Plates. Pink hearts beverage napkins were tucked between to add a bit of texture.
DIY Unfinished Wood Hearts with Magnets were painted and personalized with pink vinyl adhesive to create pretty place cards that doubled as fun take home gifts for our guests.
One of our fave elements of our table decor actually came in the form of the sassy personalized napkins that took a nod from the movie quote, "On Wednesdays we wear pink." Cady Heron would definitely approve!
Our Galentines sipped drinks from Pink Patterned Plastic Wine Glasses and Lavender Paper Cups. Heart topped stir sticks were the perfect accessory for each cup.
Sips & Sweets
Although Kalteen Bars didn't make it onto the menu, guests were thrilled with the array of sweet treats we offered!
A lavender painted vase filled with dried flowers and a DIY sign created by gluing a Mini Foam Heart Wreath to a DIY Unfinished Wood Box Frame were placed amongst our treats.
Guests noshed on popcorn which was served in Mini Pink and White Striped Popcorn Boxes layered with Mini Lilac Popcorn Boxes. Each box was then embellished with the famous words of Regina George, "Is butter a carb?" The quote was first printed onto white cardstock and then glued to lavender scrapbook paper before being attached to the popcorn boxes. You can find the free printable quote labels here.
Sweet pink cupcakes looked pretty dressed up with cupcake wrappers we cut from lavender scrapbook paper.
Pretty in pink meringues, Pink Foil Wrapped Milk Chocolate Hearts and pink and lavender chocolate candies arranged in Glass Jars rounded out the treats on our dessert table.
As our party wound down and guests departed, we gifted each of our Galentines with fetching DIY Face Mask Bag Party Favors crafted from embellished Canvas Pencil Cases. Each bag contained lip balm and Mini Heart Shaped Favor Containers filled with chocolates. You can find all the details to create your own Face Mask Bags here.
We hope you've been inspired to wear pink and celebrate Galentine's Day with your own crew!
