So whether you are getting together to fill out your brackets or you're watching the final four, you'll be prepared with this creative and fun March Madness Basketball Party.
It’s that time of year again when we get to summon up our passion for basketball and relive the glory days of college. The arrival of March means one thing in our house, it’s time to show our college spirit, cheer for our favorite team, and create brackets like it’s our job. It all starts with “Selection Sunday” where college teams are invited to the “Big Dance” – the NCAA Division 1 Basketball Championship tournament. Each year we fill out brackets with our friends and let the friendly competition begin to see who will win it all, and what better way to start this annual tradition than with a March Madness viewing party. Here are some of my favorite tips and ideas to help you plan and host your own viewing party. Let the madness begin!
When it comes to entertaining I love having a designated area for snacks and always set up a festive table display. Not only does it look great but it helps make it helps for me as the hostess. Guests are able find everything they need in one area and can help themselves to their favorite snacks. For this March Madness Basketball Party I set up a table and covered it with a black tablecloth and layered it with black & white striped table runners. I added a chalkboard banner to the front of the table and wrote SLAM DUNK on it, because that's exactly what this party is going to be.
I created a simple backdrop by using a large chalkboard and balloons. I outlined a basketball court on the chalkboard, but you could also add any fun basketball phrases or sayings.
A large metal basket held foam fingers, plates and napkins so guests could help themselves to snacks.
I kept the snacks simple and served popcorn, chips with dip, buzzer beater brownie bites and slam dunk cantaloupe dippers with creamy fruit dip. The real reason for this party is so we can cheer on our favorite teams in the March Madness tournament, but in between games I made sure there was something fun for everyone to do. It seems like a friendly game of beer pong always breaks out when we get together with friends to watch sports, so I decided to get creative and make a Basketball Beer Pong game that tied in with our party theme.
