“All aboard, this is the Polar Express!” As soon as the holiday season rolls around, my two little guys begin asking when it will be time to watch the Polar Express and play with our very own steam engine. To say they are obsessed would be putting it mildly. So when we saw all of these adorable holiday and train products, we jumped on board to style our very own Polar Express party!
The Table: The table was set with a White Rectangle Tablecloth, a Candy Cane Striped Tablecloth Roll cut in half lengthwise to make a wide table runner and a Chalkboard Table Runner to top it off. Our Polar Express steam engine and caboose served as the table centerpiece along with one of our own holiday frames. We created this super simple printable with one of our favorite Polar Express quotes and then detailed it with silver snowflakes and adhesive stickers from the Red & White Christmas Mini Paper Stack. We then scattered Sisal Trees and Iridescent Sparkling Snowflake Christmas Ornaments across on the Chalkboard Table Runner.
The Place Settings:
We absolutely love the place settings we created for this party! We personalized Premium White Ribbed Edge Dinner Plates with alphabet stickers from the Red & White Christmas Mini Paper Stack. This was such an inexpensive way to add a bit of creativity to each setting. The kids just loved seeing their names on the plates!
We layered Metallic Silver Party Dessert Plates on top of Red & White Snowflake Dinner Plates that all sat on top of the Premium White Ribbed Edge Dinner Plates. We then painted Clear Cupcake Holders snowy white and placed our DIY Bell Favor on top.
These were so simple and fun to make and the kids had so much fun playing with them.
We also placed a Wind-Up Train and our DIY Snow Globe at each place setting for the kids to play with and take home!
We decorated Red Forks and Spoons with silver snowflakes and set them on a Red & White Snowflake Luncheon Napkin. Winter Snowflake Mugs were filled with delicious hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and snowflake adorned Red Striped Paper Straws.
The Decor: The party table sat in front of our Believe and Snowflake embellished wall. To create this backdrop, we simply painted some wooden letters and mounted them with Command Strips®.
We hung an array of Jumbo Snowflake Hanging Decorations and some glittering silver snowflakes. We simply adore the way this backdrop turned out! Hot, hot, hot, hot chocolate: Now, what would a Polar Express party be without a hot cocoa bar?!
Our adorable and talented friend Jessica, of Modern Moments Designs, created this amazing hot cocoa bar backdrop poster for us! We couldn't be more thrilled with the way it turned out! Now for the treats!
As a mom with a pretty busy schedule, I wanted to put out a variety of simple, sweet treats that would take only minutes to make but still look cute-as-can be and be enjoyed by my little engineers!
We purchased some vanilla cupcakes from our local grocery store and turned them into North Pole Cupcakes! We loved how adorable these little cupcakes turned out to be! We placed Red Candy Sticks in marshmallows and dipped them in melted white chocolate and decorated them in clear sugar crystals. Don't they look like cute little snowballs?!
And how adorable are these Hot Cocoa Lollipops?? My boys couldn't wait to try them!
Of course, hot chocolate was out for the taking and displayed on red-painted DIY Wood Trays.
We filled Small Trifle Dishes with Red and White Chocolate Candies that the kids could add to their hot chocolate.
Our favorite part of the Cocoa Bar were these white chocolate filled spoons!
We melted down some white chocolate chips and poured a bit into each spoon, added a few red and green sugar crystals and then placed them in the freezer for 10 minutes. The kids loved watching these melt away in their hot cocoa! So, before I even began thinking about the party tables and decor, I knew I wanted to dress my little guys up as the conductor and the little boy. I know I am a bit biased, but I think they make pretty cute Polar Express characters!
My 7 year old made for quite the conductor! He loved wearing the Conductor Hat, White Gloves , Glasses and Mustache! But, his most favorite prop was definitely the Pocket Watch!
The boys had fun handing in their Gold Foil Believe Tickets and playing with the Wind-Up Trains!
This Polar Express party was unbelievably fun both to style and attend and of course, and made us Believe in the magic of the holiday season! Make sure to check our DIY Believe Bell Favor, DIY Snow Globe and North Pole Cupcake Recipe for even more holiday inspiration!
