You’re invited to a magical night under the stars. Halloween is getting a mythical makeover with this refreshing break from witches and ghouls. This adult-themed Fortune Teller Dinner Party is centered around spirits, magic, fortune and counting your lucky stars.
Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year, but I feel like I’ve done all the typical party themes; from mummies to witches I’ve done it all. Last year we hosted a Murder Mystery Dinner Party and it was so much fun and a break from the normal party. This year I wanted to host something similar for our supper club friends, but wanted something completely unexpected from the typical Halloween themes. While browsing the Oriental Trading website for costume ideas, I saw this gypsy costume and inspiration hit me for a magical Fortune Teller-themed party.
Setting the Scene:
Vibrant colors and a mix of eclectic patterns, vintage tableware and fabrics set the tone for this magical party. Of course, you'll need a creative invitation for this mystical party and our DIY Fortune Invitations were the perfect way to get guests excited for the event.
One of the great things about this theme is you can look around your house and mix and match with things you already have. I wanted this party to be outside and enjoyed under the stars so I set up an outdoor canopy in our backyard. I pinned and draped fabric along three sides of the tent to give it the same look and feel as a traveling gypsy tent.
I set up a table under the tent and moved out some chairs and a bench, again keeping with the eclectic feel. I hung gold paper lanterns from the top of the tent over the table.
The table was draped with a variety of fabrics and I filled it with old books, apothecary bottles and white metal lanterns. I wanted something whimsical and fun for each place setting. I used my Cricut to make fortune-inspired plates and layered them on top of gold chargers.
Beside each place setting I placed a small goodie bag filled with things to make sure our guests continue to enjoy good fortune. I used drawstring canvas bags and ironed on image transfers of tarot cards. I filled the bags with fortune fish, playing cards, a tarot card and candy. Our guests will take home good luck and fortune, along with some great memories from our evening.
To round out this magical night I had my sister dress up as the gypsy fortune teller and read everyone their fortunes. This was so much fun and everyone had a great time laughing at their fortunes. We also had a DIY Wheel of Destiny game where guest could tempt their fate.
It was such a magical night and we loved celebrating one of the best holidays with our favorite people. We predict you will have an amazing time when you host your own Fortune Teller Dinner Party.
