We fell down the rabbit hole and in love with the concept of this whimsical and vintage inspired Mad Hatter inspired bridal shower. With gorgeous decor, stacked tea cups and a menagerie of Alice in Wonderland inspired confections, this theme had us all going mad! Find out how to create your own Alice inspired “Drink Me” Glasses, an elegantly rustic Mad Hatter Backdrop, complete with a free printable, and delightfully delicious Raspberry Petite Fours, perfect for any tea party, mad or not!
Using a mix of modern and vintage décor along with rustic and glamorous elements made us feel anything but mad during this curious and curiouser bridal shower! When styling this unique bridal shower, we wanted it to include lovely, vintage inspired décor, but have it set upon a more natural and rustic setting, just as it was described in Lewis Carroll’s novel. We mixed a palette of pinks, blues, gold, silver and natural greens along with a variety of textures, both rustic and glamorous, that wouldn’t typically go together, but in the end, create a beautiful tablescape fit for a special bride-to-be. The Table:
Our table was set with a champagne, sequin table linen, layered with gold sequin table runners, a crushed, blue velvet runner all topped with lush, Moss Table Runners. A menagerie of tea pots, tea cups and saucers were stacked and layered and placed in White Bird Cages adorned with a Key Bottle Opener to give a whimsical sense of mad Hatter chic, organized chaos!
We loved using these DIY Ceramic Tea Pots as the base of our tea party towers and then visited our local thrift stores to find a variety of beautiful, yet inexpensive tea cups and saucers to add to our towering tablescape!
We surrounded the tea party towers with more Key Bottle Openers, a gold clock, antique, painted keyholes, Silver-Plated Desk Shaped Jewelry Boxes and a Silvertone Pocket Watch; so no one, especially the bride would be late, be late for a very important date! The Refreshments:
A variety of tea party snacks were placed on floral tiered serving trays, including raspberry almond cookies, shortbread cookies and our Raspberry Petite Fours. These petite fours were such a simple and delicious treat and were the perfect addition to our sweet snacks.
We also topped pink macarons with fondant clock toppers as an easy and creative detail!
The Place Settings:
Each guests' place setting included a Fairy Tale Wedding Paper Dinner Plate, Vintage Collection Square Dessert Plate and an antique blue-painted DIY Ceramic Tea Cup Planter and saucer filled with fresh flowers and a pink and ivory playing card detailed with "Curious and Curiouser". We love adding special little details like this that bring in iconic thematic moments without being too over-the-top!
We turned classic Clear Glass Milk Bottles into our DIY "Drink Me" Bottles. They sat on Fairy Tale Wedding Beverage Napkins, were filled with sparkling pink lemonade and adorned with a Silvertone Large Key Charm and an Antique Clock Charm. The Rub On Monogram Stickers used to detail the Glass Milk Bottles were so simple to use and we can't wait to use them and future projects! Make sure to check out our step-by-step tutorial! The Backdrop:
The table sat in front of our DIY Mad Hatter Backdrop which included some of our favorite products and finds! Moss Table Runners, Gold Foil Leaf Sheets, Faux Flowers and a free printable... you simply can't go wrong! Check out our full tutorial on how to create this backdrop!
