Have you noticed velvet popping up everywhere lately? Home décor, fashion and now it is set to be one of the hottest wedding trends, that we will continue to see more of. This rich and luxurious fabric effortlessly transforms your wedding reception. Use it to add a warm, stylish vibe regardless of the season; it looks great in any color palette! From bridal party accents to tablecloths, runners, favors and more, velvet is a gorgeous textural element to incorporate into your wedding. Go big, go lush, here are my ideas on how you can incorporate velvet into your wedding.
The Table:
I've used a stunning teal velvet and paired it with a warm rose gold metallic and softer blush. Both compliment the bold teal well. I started with a beautiful teal velvet tablecloth. The velvet is so eye-catching, it looks luxurious as a tablecloth.
Down the center of the table I added a runner of eucalyptus because, lets face it, greenery is always a good idea!
In the center of this runner I scattered Plastic Sea Rock Table Tossers. These catch the light and emphasize the rich velvet color.
On the top of the scattered rocks I placed the LOVE Concrete Table Decor Set. This is such a cost-effective and versatile centerpiece. It can be left raw for an industrial feel or paint it to match your color palette like I did. Use painters tape to achieve geometric angels or straight lines. To "frame" the LOVE I added a Champagne Glitter Votive Holder at each end.
At each end of the eucalyptus runner I used the Rose Gold Candle Holder Set to bring soft candlelight to the table.
Table Setting:
With such a rich textured velvet base, I kept the place settings simple in contrast. Starting with Gold Chargers I sprayed rose gold. Then I added a simple White Premium Plastic Dinner Plate with Rose Gold Edging and placing the favor on top of the setting.
I used Lindt chocolates inside Clear Acetate Pillow Boxes. The color of the wrappers are a perfect match to the teal. The favor was another opportunity to incorporate velvet. I wrapped the favor box with velvet ribbon and used Personalized Geode Favor Stickers in the center of the box and ribbon to personalize it.
At each setting I used a blush napkin. Here I also added velvet, a blush and teal ribbon tie on each napkin. I then added a Premium Clear Crystal Plastic Wine Glass and a Clear Plastic Martini Glass for the Teal Velvet Martini welcome cocktail to be be served in. You can find out how to make yours HERE.
I loved using the geode stationary range for this wedding. The color is a gorgeous shade of teal. I cut off the "Thank you" on the Personalized Geode Thank You Cards and added the guests names to create place cards for each setting.
Cake Table:
The cake table was another opportunity to use of the same luxurious teal velvet. This time I used it as a runner on top of the gray tablecloth. I placed a simple 2-tier naked cake on a rose gold metallic cake stand in the center of the runner. The runner was placed imperfectly on the table ( rather than flatly or neatly) to give it some movement. It shows off the fabric texture much better.
To each side of the cake I added a Geometric Cutout Candle Holder and a Rose Gold Ornate Candle Holder with a scattering of sea rocks.
The cake is another place when you can incorporate a touch of velvet. A simple band of ribbon around the base of the cake is such an elegant look. I paired it with a stunning acrylic cake topper that I spray painted rose gold to match the other metallics in the reception.
As a backdrop for the cake and to highlight the message of the cake topper I added a floral hoop with flowing teal velvet ribbon.
To create the hoop I used a 12" Embroidery Hoop, velvet ribbon, viburnium, fern & a Peony & Hydrangea Bouquet.
(Note: The instructions for this are the same as my Flower Girl Wreath DIY which you can find HERE, simply use the larger 12" hoop mentioned above).
Seating Chart:
Another way to incorporate velvet is into your seating chart. Strips of velvet to hold the seating assignments within a larger floral hoop. Find out how to make this simple yet breathtaking seating chart HERE.
I used the beautiful geode cards for seating assignments to match the cards on the table.
The Smallest of Guests:
The ceremony is another perfect place to use velvet. In your bouquet, the tie of a corsage, or in a flower girl wreath.
This simple flower girl wreath is so sweet, with a soft gentle wrap for them to hold onto at the top. Find out how to create one HERE.
The Thank You:
After the day is over and when it's time to send a note of thanks, bring back the fondest of memories for your guests. Send out a thank you that will remind them of your special day and send out Personalized Geode Thank You Cards.
