Join the mama and daddy to be for a gender reveal party set in paradise! We created a DIY Lei Gender Reveal Activity to get our guests in the tropical spirit and to cast their vote for the baby's gender. To evoke an island Bohemian feel, our party space was decorated with luscious palm and monstera leaves, along with beautiful macrame pieces. Guests were served a sparkling tropical mocktail, complete with a paper parasol, and felt as though they had been whisked away to the tropics!
Our Luau Gender Reveal Party was a mix of modern boho meets tropical oasis! We started with a light blue and light pink color palette, then added in a plethora of palm leaves to evoke the feeling of being swept away to a remote island in the tropics.
Boho Tropical Decor
The focal point of the party was our beautiful macrame backdrop. We used a macrame wall hanging we had on hand, but you could use this kit to create your own! Adding a mix of large and medium palm leaves, along with painted monstera leaves, to the macrame wall hanging was the perfect way to blend the boho and tropical trends together.
We adore how such a simple decor item can elevate an entire space!
Balloons always add a pop of fun to any event! Light blue and light pink jumbo balloons were filled with helium and floated next to our dessert table. Large palm leaves were tied to each balloon with light pink and light blue ribbon to harmonize with our theme. Each balloon was tied to a color coordinated painted pineapple to keep them from drifting away.
Modern Tropical Tablescape
A square stained wood flower box sat in the middle of our dining table and was filled with a stunning mix of tropical flowers, palm leaves and painted monstera leaves.
Using fruit as part of your decor is an easy and inexpensive way to accessorize your table. Pink and blue color-blocked pineapples sat on either side of the flower box and provided the perfect pop of color and tropical flair.
We used a macrame table runner we had on hand to line our dining table, but this lovely crocheted table runner would work nicely as well.
Place Settings with Tropical Flair
Guests were swooning over our simple and elegant tropical table setting! Pink and blue color-blocked DIY slat signs acted as placemats and grounded each place setting. Light blue dessert plates were layered atop festive tropical leaf motif dinner plates. A light pink dinner napkin sat to the left of the plates and held gold metallic cutlery.
Modern hexagon place cards sat in the middle of the plates at each place setting. They were color-block painted and received a simple fern leaf to coordinate with our theme's modern tropical vibe. A chalk marker was used to easily write each guest's name.
Delicious and refreshing Sparkling Tropical Pineapple Lemonade was served in gold rimmed tumblers and garnished with a gold cocktail parasol topped with a pineapple wedge. Guests added either a pink polka dot or blue polka dot paper straw, along with strawberries or blueberries to indicate their guess of baby's gender.
Tropical Infused Sips and Sweets
We set up a drink station on the left side of our dessert table, complete with a beautiful pineapple shaped drink dispenser filled with delicious sparkling tropical pineapple lemonade. A color-blocked DIY slat sign was placed under the drink dispenser to provide a pop of color and modern flair. Square appetizer bowls were filled with strawberries and blueberries and were elevated with the help of cupcake stands. Guests could add their choice of fruit to their mocktail to indicate their guess as to the baby's gender! You can find the recipe for the refreshing Sparkling Pineapple Lemonade here.
Tropical fruits are an easy way to infuse island style into any setting. They looked right at home in the center of our dessert table in a simple basket sitting atop large monstera leaves. Another color-blocked pineapple was placed in the basket, along with a plumeria flower, to tie in the decor from our dining table.
The right side of our dessert table held our DIY Aloha Baby Welcome Sign and delicious cupcakes.
The rich wood of the stained wood plank sign was a beautiful contrast with the light pink and light blue paint. The plumeria flower and fern leaves provided the perfect tropical touch. Find the steps to create your own Aloha Baby Welcome Sign here.
Store-bought cupcakes were dressed up with pink and blue fondant monstera leaves. They looked twice as cute served atop pink and blue painted tropical leaves.
DIY Lei Station
As a fun way to get our guests into the tropical mood and to join in with voting for baby's gender, we set up a lei station with both pink and blue leis. An acrylic sign with a color-blocked palm leaf was created to encourage guests to choose a color to wear based upon their guesses! You can find the steps to create your own DIY Tropical Lei Activity here. If you're looking fun ways to actually reveal your baby's gender at the party, take a look at this adorable question mark piñata or these confetti cannons.
Another stained wood flower box, filled with tropical leaves and florals, was placed at the foot of the table for a pop of color.
