Who says you can't host a garden party indoors? After all, a little dirt never hurt you know! Bring the outside in by gathering ceramic pots to paint and decorate, planting pretty blooms, and the celebrating with the cutest flower dessert cups. You will have all the makings for an adorable planting party perfect for play dates or birthdays!
Flower Power Décor
We brought the outdoors in by laying down a lush carpet of faux grass. Although not necessary, I think it really helps set the scene. We found it at our local hardware store and love the way it brightens up our space and makes you feel at one with nature.
The walls were blooming with a plethora of extra small, small and medium faux flowers, which received a bit of spray paint in our theme's colors of lavender, yellow and light pink. We cut out simple leaves from foam sheets and added them to the backs of each flower.
I was never one to enjoy getting my hands dirty as a child, but my mom was always quick to point out that "a little dirt never hurt." I couldn't think of a better saying for a garden themed party than my mom's own favorite saying! We framed it on a chicken wire frame and simply clipped it on with clothespins. You can find the download for the poster under the supply list on the right. We had it printed at a local print shop as a 24"x8" poster.
We covered the top of our potting station in a layer of boxwood to add yet more of the outdoor feeling to our garden party.
You can't have a garden without a garden gnome! Our friendly gnome stood tall watching out over all the pretty flowers thanks to a galvanized pot. A DIY Flower Candleholder and potted faux succulent kept him company.
A myriad of potted flowers and boxwood balls were sprinkled here and there to further the feel of being in a garden.
How Does Your Garden Grow?
I don't know about you, but my garden grows with a little bit of water, and a whole lot of love! The framed garden printable can be downloaded via the link under the supply list.
Guests were provided with DIY Ceramic Square Pots to paint and decorate as they pleased before potting them with pretty flowers. The adorable flower paintbrush holder DIY can be found here.
The flowers waiting to be planted were arranged in yellow crates with a sweet printable added to them to tie in with our theme. You can find the free Bloom, Grow and Dig printables on the right under the supply list.
Picnic Time
I can't think of a better way to have a celebration outdoors (or indoors in our case!), than by having a picnic! We layered a lavender dinner plate and yellow dessert plate on top of a pink and white-checkered tablecloth.
Lavender paper cups were dressed up with Garden Party Name Tags, which can be downloaded under the supply list on the right, and sat atop adorable DIY Flower Coasters. Silver and white striped straws perfectly coordinated with the silver touches throughout the party.
Guests sipped on yummy sweet pink lemonade, which was kept at the ready on the table.
A simple Gerbera Daisy plant was potted in a galvanized pot and sat beside a DIY Flower Candleholder and a small flower potted in a painted DIY Ceramic Flowerpot.
Sweet Treats
Gardening really works up an appetite, so we were sure to offer our guests a few sweet treats. Chocolate cupcakes with DIY Lollipop Flower Cupcake Toppers were potted in mini DIY ceramic pots and elevated on cupcake stands at each place setting.
To ensure the guests had their fill of chocolate, because one can't ever have enough chocolate in my opinion, we also served double chocolate muffins potted in DIY Ceramic Flowerpots with Lollipop Flower Cupcake Toppers. Guests helped themselves to pink, lavender and yellow jelly beans using a mini appetizer spoon.
Our forks looked extra cute corralled in a DIY Flower Utensil Holder.
Parting Gifts
Sadly, every party must come to an end, but you can send your guests home with a gift that doesn't have to! Along with their freshly potted plants, we gave our guests seed packets and lovely smelling dried flowers.
We clipped the favors on a DIY Vertical Memo Board and can't wait to hear how beautifully their flowers bloom!
We hope you found a little inspiration to throw your own garden party, and remember a little dirt never hurt! Be sure to check out the tutorial for the Lollipop Flower Cupcake Toppers, the DIY Vertical Succulent Garden, and see how you can use 1 Flower Craft 3 Ways.
