At the beginning of the school year, it is very important to teach our little learners different ways to enjoy a book. I have found this especially important this year due to having four students who barely speak English. The Library Rules Posters are not only perfect to establish rules and procedures in the library, but are also great visuals to use when starting the year off.
Get Students Involved!
- Write scenarios on hand bulletin board cutouts on how to treat a book and how not to treat a book. Have students sort to the correct category. These would be great to display right on the bulletin board!
- Have students write a reflection or response to each rule in their own personal notebook.
- Use reading rewards as a motivation throughout the year to keep the library rules in place.
