Making Waves

Welcome guests to your party by setting the scene with a flowing balloon arch that mimics the waves of the ocean. The little mermaids will be delighted by the soft colors of pale pink, light blue, minty green and lavender. The arch was made by inflating latex balloons, tying two together, and then twisting with another couple to form a cluster of four. From there, simply wrap baker's twine around each cluster to secure them all together. Faux Pine Branches were spray painted a pretty aqua color, and then interspersed between the balloons here and there to represent seaweed. It was a seamless way to fill in any gaps between the balloons and tie in with the theme. The Last Splash Bachelorette Banner actually comes in two separate pieces, so we just used the splash portion, and it was a perfect fit for our party. I just adore the little mermaid tail on the letter "s"!

We kept the decor of the party light and bright using an all white table and white petite chiavari chairs. This allowed the pretty pastels to stand out and become the focal part of the party.

We hung Mermaid Dreamcatchers on the backs of each chair using ric rac trim. Creating them each in a different color helped designate each guests' spot at the table, and as a bonus, they become fun party favors for the little mermaids to hang in their bedrooms after the party! You can find the tutorial to create your own Mermaid Dreamcatchers here.

She Sells Sea Shells

Our tablescape was kept fairly simple so as not to overshadow the fun seashell dessert plates. We used more of our painted "seaweed" (faux pine branches) as a table runner then layered on a mix of seashells and bleached white starfish.

We turned seaside treasures into decor items for our table. White spider mums, various succulents and air plants were added to conch shells and sea urchins for a playful touch. With summer approaching, you can find both real and faux shells of all shapes and sizes at your local home decor stores.

Place Settings Fit For A Mermaid

I absolutely fell in love with these adorable iridescent seashell dessert plates! They looked picture-perfect sitting atop the Mermaid Sparkle Dinner Plates, which where the color inspiration for the whole party. We painted the lower portion of the Premium Silver Forks a light lavender color, then wrapped them with a bit of silver baker's twine and added a pale pink coral charm for a sweet touch.

The most fin-tastically darling and oh so delicious mermaid tail cookies made by Say Anything Bakery were placed at each setting. Guests couldn't wait to gobble them up!

We spray painted clear glass milk bottles a light pink color to coordinate with the theme. We taped off the tops to ensure the paint did not seep into the bottle itself. To further tie into the theme we wrapped a silver starfish charm onto the tops of the bottles using silver baker's twine. Each bottle received a silver and white striped paper straw and sat atop DIY seashell coasters. We created the coasters by painting unfinished wood seashells pale blue, then adding iridescent sequins to their tops. We placed a mini jar filled with glitter and a tiny seashell (AKA mermaid magic) next to each bottle, because as you know, all mermaids love sparkly things!

The cutest mini candy containers were filled with gummy sharks. Coral and starfish charms were tied to each using silver baker's twine.

Sweets and Such

The little mermaids stayed hydrated by sipping on ocean water, which was served in a beverage dispenser that seamlessly blended in with the party thanks to the addition of a bit of our painted "seaweed".

Delectable cupcakes topped with chocolate mermaid tails were both decorative and delicious.

We kept Mermaid Sparkle Cups on hand to be filled with either ocean water, or our Goldfish® and popcorn mixture.

Madeleine cookies dipped in chocolate and seashell cookies from Say Anything Bakery were also kept within reach so guests to help themselves.

We added gumballs that matched our theme's colors to Moon Shells, which sat in a bed of "sand" (brown sugar).

As an added treat, we served the most delightful, light and fluffy Mermaid Mousse that we topped with chocolate mermaid tails to match our cupcakes.
