Simple Decor

I always love using themed decorations to get my students excited about the learning we'll be doing. I don't normally have time to do a full "room flip" but I enjoy adding a few simple details to an area. This excitement can easily be done at home, also! To get my little student excited to learn all about dinosaurs, I hung up the Dino Dig Birthday Garland and Jointed Dino Dig Cardboard Cutouts. I also added in the Dino-Mite Dinosaur Skeletons to allow his little hands to explore.

A great hands-on activity is the Mindware® Dig It Up! Dinosaur Eggs. After soaking the dinosaur eggs in water, head outside and let your little paleontologists get to work. Each set comes with 12 eggs, 12 chisels, 12 instructions, and one excavation guide that can help lead a great discussion on the dinosaurs they dug up.

Now, it's time to practice reading the first 22 most frequent words while building our very own Sight Word Skeleton Dinosaur. Little learners will love this hands-on activity so much that they probably won't even realize they're truly reading! This activity is easy to adapt for many different learners. For learners who are just starting to learn letters, they can practice finding the letters on the bones and writing each letter. Any learner who is ready for sight words can read each sight word, color it, and then write it using the FREE PRINTABLES. Other learners can practice writing a complete sentence using a sight word from a bone and the FREE PRINTABLES.

Craft & Writing

I am a huge fan of kits that includes a craft and writing sheets like this Dinosaur Writing Prompt Craft Kit. This kit is perfect for all ages of researchers! Researchers who are learning basic skills can practice writing letters or their name. Others could practice writing sight words or sentence writing. Older researchers can use the Free Dinosaur Research Printable to head online and research their dinosaur of choice. Using their research, they can then write a nonfiction paragraph all about their dinosaur. The Dinosaur Facts Activity Books and the Laminated Dinosaur Bookmarks can also help the researchers learn all about dinosaurs.

You will for sure have a dino-mite time playing with your learners!
