Let the countdown begin! Host a kid-friendly New Year's party this year and get your craft on while ringing in the new year! Celebrate with bright colors, metallic accents, clever DIY craft ideas and a rotating star disco light! Your kids and their friends will surely be impressed with this festive countdown New Year's Eve party.
To create this look, hang the shimmering foil backdrop and dress your kids' table with the new year table cloth and black table skirt. Tip: Before setting the table you can pop 12 of the party poppers and let the confetti fall on the table and floor. It adds a festive touch. Set the table with the square black dinner plates, silver square dessert plates, the bright New Year's beverage napkins and the star print cups. Make sure each child has their own bright New Year's horns!
Next, create the countdown treat bags. My kids are still pretty young, so even though we are on California time we celebrate according to New York time. Seeing that New York is 3 hours ahead, my kids are able to stay up until 9pm our time but still get to see the ball drop at midnight, New York time. Each child will get four bags and starting at 6pm all the way up to 9pm, they will open one bag per hour. Each bag will contain fun activities or crafts for the kids to engage in. All you need are some white gift bags and sharpie markers to complete the bags. Using a small bowl or cup, trace around the cup onto the bag to create the base of the clock. Fill in the clock face with numbers and clock hands. Remember on the clock that the small hand tells the hour and the large hand tells the minutes. Create four bags with the appropriate hours (my kids bags start at 6pm and go until 9pm). Fill each bag with fun toys, noisemakers and activities.
Some of my favorite activities were the mini playing cards, wildlife puzzles, neon paddle ball game and the click and catch game. These are great treats to pass the time!
No party is complete without cupcakes! In celebration of the new year, put together these adorable ball drop cupcake toppers. What I love most about these easy DIY cupcake toppers is that they double as party favors!
Each guest can take home their own mirrored ball topper and use as an ornament for future years. To create the toppers, all you need is the silver disco ball ornaments and some lollipop sticks. Trim off the silver string of the ornament. Turn the ornament upside down and insert the lollipop stick into the foam portion of the ornament. If you want to secure the stick, simply put a dot of hot glue on lollipop stick and then press into bottom of the disco ball. Then simply insert the cupcake toppers into the cupcakes.
