What's better than a classic orange and black Halloween party with a distinct jack-o'-lantern theme? Put the "Happy" into Halloween with this kooky, spooky Halloween theme that's fun for all ages. Pumpkins are the highlight of Halloween and kids will go crazy for kid-friendly jack-o'-lanterns of all kinds combined with a DIY pumpkin patch, treats, favors, activities, and more.
When it comes to a jack-o'-lantern party, a traditional color palette of orange and black is the way to go. Let me show you how to create this look!
Invite Jack to the Table
I used a Black & White Striped Table Runner and placed a Light Up Jack O'Lantern in the center of the table. I then spray painted a Silver Candle Holder Set black and placed one candle holder at each end of my table. Black and white striped candles were the perfect way to finish them off!
I then added additional Jack-O'-Lantern Votive Candle Holders, Halloween Clicker Toys and a few toys from the Jack O'Lantern Assortment down the middle of the table.
I created layered place settings starting with a Round Paper Dinner Plate followed by a Pumpkin Shaped Dinner Plates that I updated with a jack-o'-lantern face using gold vinyl. I then added Premium Metallic Gold Plastic Cutlery and a Black & White Striped Luncheon Napkins.
The Jack O'Lantern Plastic Cup with a Striped Paper Straw is perfect for drinks. The final detail I added was a small place card. I made these using Mini Pumpkin Candy Buckets stuffed with faux succulents. I made washi tape flags using a toothpick and added each child's initials using a marker.
Treats & Sweets
Whether it's a Halloween party or pre-trick-or-treating get-together, desserts and snacks are a must. I set up my dessert table under an orange, black and white balloon arch.
I used the White Latex Balloon 50-Ft. Garland as a base and then layered in 9", 11" and 36" black balloons, 9" and 11" orange balloons as well as Black Striped 18" Mylar Balloons and super fun Jack-O'-Lantern 11" Latex Balloons. Under the arch I added a trick or treat banner.
Down the middle of the table I used a Felt Pumpkin Table Runner. I filled the Acrylic Riser Set with Mini Pumpkin Stress Toys and used these the risers to elevate black cake stands with jack-o'-lantern cakes and cupcakes.
I created these DIY cupcake toppers using toothpicks and Jack O'Lantern Face Stickers. They're super easy to make and are cost effective for bulk cupcakes.
To break up the orange I used Black & White Striped Luncheon Napkins under the Jack O'Lantern Paper Snack Cups and filled them with delicious popcorn.
Finally, I set out Black & White Striped Favor Boxes for guests to take home their treats. I added Jack O'Lantern Face Stickers to the boxes and accented them with Halloween Jack O'Lantern Glasses for every guest.
Take Home Jack
There are so many affordable treat options for this Halloween party! I set up a rolling cart in front of a black grid wall to hold a fantastic selection of treats for guests to choose from. I attached Jack O'Lantern Folding Hand Fans and Halloween Beaded Necklaces with Light-Up Pumpkins to the black grid wall.
On top of the cart I placed Plush Jack-O'-Lantern Bouncy Balls and Jack O'Lantern Basketballs in a large bowl.
I love making necessities cute, so I set out these Halloween Hand Sanitizers that come with the cutest labels that totally fit with our theme.
On the next level I used an Acrylic Riser to hold a Jack O'Lantern Assortment. Then came the kids favorites; Backpack Buddies Plush Jack-O'-Lantern Backpack Clip Keychains and Jack-O'-Lantern Make Faces Slime! This slime squeezes out of the pumpkin face with is hilarious!
Finally, I made sure to set out Halloween Pumpkin Pencils which are always a fan favorite.
Indoor Pumpkin Patch
No matter the weather you can create a cute, indoor pumpkin patch for party photos using a Pumpkin Patch Backdrop and Jack-O-Lantern Cardboard Stand-Ups.
Jumping Jack Flash
If you're lucky enough to have good weather, set up family races outdoors using Jack-O'-Lantern Potato Sack Race Bags.
Set the Scene for Halloween
Now let's take this jack-o'-lantern party to the neighborhood and prepare for trick-or-treaters. Start with a trick-or-treat message for your neighbors that leaves no doubt that your house is open for treats. I used the Black & Orange Trick or Treat Letter Kit to spell out "TRICK OR TREAT" in our front yard. The best part is that I can roll this all out again next year!
Trick-Or-Treat
Set up a jack-o-lantern treat station outside your home to welcome trick-or-treaters.
The whole family loved the Happy Halloween Garage Door Custom Banner. We personalized it with our last name, and because it is made out of sturdy weatherproof vinyl, it's another fabulous decoration we can pull out year after year.
My husband and I always like to dress the party on Halloween night. The Pumpkin Face Adult's T-Shirt was perfect for this year!
I used the same rolling cart for non-candy favors at our outdoor trick-or-treat station. I just replenished it for kids who can't have candy.
It wouldn't be Halloween without Jack O'Lantern Treat Buckets! These buckets work to contain trick-or-treaters' hauls or can also serve as the candy buckets they pull from at your candy station.
If the kids in your neighborhood are anything like mine, then they fill those bags pretty quickly! The Large Halloween Resealable Plastic Treat Bags come in a bulk pack and are perfect for kids to grab if they are running low on space. Have sharpies on-hand to write names on bags and stop any mix ups!
Pumpkin Spice and All Things Nice
Invite parents to grab a hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa while their kids roam the neighborhood! Decorate with a Pumpkin Tissue Garland and stock with Jack O'Lantern Plastic Cups.
Don't forget the snacks! Fill Mini Jack-O'-Lantern Drawstring Treat Bags with candy just for the parents. Who said adults don't have a sweet tooth too?
Go BIG
Have fun with an outdoor pumpkin patch the kids can pose in before they move on to the next house! What's special about this pumpkin patch is that it lights up at night! I used a mix of the 5' Inflatable Pumpkins, Lighted Pumpkin Halloween Decorations and Light Up Jack O'Lanterns to create the perfect spot and photo op.
Whether you're celebrating Halloween in a big or small way this year, we hope these tips and ideas will make it memorable!
