This year I wanted to celebrate New Orleans style and have a kid friendly Mardi Gras party! I have learned to make all my parties kids friendly so that my kids can join in on the fun. I always make sure to include a couple crafts to keep them busy while they wait for the food.

Dress The table
I started dressing up my table by adding the metallic purple tablecloth. Next, I added the purple fringe table skirt. It was super easy to attach. Just peel and stick!

Set The Table
I knew I wanted to incorporate some pops of gold onto my table so I started by laying down metallic gold dinner plates on the table. I then added a Mardi Gras crown to each plate so each guest felt extra special. I kept the cutlery together by folding them in purple chevron napkins and securing with green satin ribbon.
Since this was a kids’ party I knew I needed some cute non-breakable cups for the kids. How adorable are these knight’s party mugs!? These made a great addition to each place setting. I couldn’t help but sprinkle Mardi Gras confetti on the table around the place settings. Don’t be afraid to even add some to the floor!
To make a big party statement I hung the Mardi Gras fringe backdrop behind our table. It added such a nice touch to the party and will made an awesome photo backdrop too. I placed a few of the mini purple popcorn boxes on the table and filled them with Ella and Annie’s Mardi Gras popcorn! Find the recipe here.

Create Centerpieces
Using the clear candy buckets, I layered the purple chocolate coins with the gold chocolate candy. I filled the buckets with 1/3 coins, 1/3 gold chocolate candy and topped with more purple chocolate coins. There is also a Mardi Gras mix of chocolate coins you can use too. Drape the Mardi Gras beads over the clear bucket to finish this centerpiece.
Check out our DIY Mardi Gras masquerade mask tutorial to create some fun masks. Just cut the elastic off the mask and glue it to a dowel. Insert the dowel into the Mardi Gras centerpiece!
