A letterboard makes the perfect statement. Did you know that you can paint the frames and letters of these? We started by lightly sanding the 12" Silver Walnut Letterboard and applied 2-3 coats of acrylic paint, allowing the paint to dry in between coats. Paint the letters with a flat-bristled paint brush and bright acrylic paint colors. We chose colors to match our pastel kawaii theme, hot pink, mint, light pink, and orange.

We also added some height to our mantel with these DIY tall apothecary jars. Paint a set of White Candle Holders with acrylic paint. Paint the lid of a Tall Jar to match. Insert Foam Eyeballs and painted Ceramic Bones into the jars. Close the lid and place the jars on top of the candle holders.

Use the tallest painted Candle Holder left over from the apothecary jars to create this DIY Succulent Pumpkin Terrarium. Simply paint the DIY Pumpkin Terrarium, inside and out. We painted the inside of our terrarium with mint acrylic paint and the outside in a bright magenta color. We then took black acrylic paint and dripped paint starting from the stem and allowed it to dry. Paint an array of faux succulents using matte spray paint and hot glue them into the opening of the terrarium. Set the finished pumpkin on top of the tallest painted candle holder and place it on your mantle.

We finished the kawaii Halloween look by painting pumpkins in an array of shapes and sizes and placed them inside the fireplace itself. The paint job on some of the pumpkins is more elaborate than others so those were placed in the front so they a can be enjoyed the most. We dripped black acrylic paint down some of the pumpkins to mimic the black ooze from the DIY Boo Halloween Wreath. To save on pumpkins, we placed a large black cardboard box inside the fireplace to take up some of the space, then filled the rest in with pastel painted pumpkins.
