Jurassic Park Inspired Trunk or Treat Idea

Jurassic Park Inspired Trunk or Treat Idea

Overall Image

Start decorating the trunk by lining it with foliage paper. Scatter medium and large palm leaves in and around your trunk to give it a forest feel. Take beach fringe and hang it from the top of your trunk. Then layer the ivy garland on top, outlining the entire trunk. Construct and paint the DIY Dinosaur Kit before the trunk or treat.  Next, hide the DIY Dinosaur and the inflated dinos among the foliage in your trunk. Use ivy, lime green tablecloths and dark green tablecloths to make it easy to hide the dinos.

To warn your guest of the dangers your trunk presents, print out the Free High Voltage Printable Sign here. Hang it across the trunk using dots of glue and jute cording.

Having dinosaurs out in the open would be a tad scary, so create a cardboard Jurassic park gate. Start by wrapping six cardboard boxes (two small, two medium and two large) in weathered wood paper. Then paint six cardboard cones dark brown and create small "fires" for each cone using tissue paper. Hot glue the tissue paper on the flat part of each cone. Secure a cone to one side of each box using hot glue. Stack the boxes large, medium to small, using three on each side of your trunk to act as the gates to Jurassic Park.

To make the top of the gate, take a pool noodle and wrap it in weathered wood paper. Using the heavy metal bulletin board letters spell out Jurassic Park on the front of the pool noodle. Use hot glue to put the letters on. Tape the pool noodle to the top of the boxes. Finish the gates by scattering ivy strands around the boxes. TIP! Save your OTC order boxes to create this cardboard Jurassic Park gate.

Make Jurassic Park a little rocky by covering cardboard boxes with brown paper to resemble rocks. Place these in front of your bumper so that they are still visible. To give Jurassic Park fans a thrill, create dinosaur eggs. Start by spray painting the Easter egg lanterns with off-white spray paint. Splatter brown paint onto the eggs. Once the eggs have dried, hot glue them together and wrap crunched up kraft paper around the eggs to look like a nest. Fill in the gaps with raffia ribbon and use the dinosaur foot print decals to create prints leading away from the nest. Just like that more Dinosaurs are ready to hatch!

Kids getting candy

Have an adult or a child dress up with the inflatable T-Rex costumes to hand out an assortment of goodies. Use the super dino toy assortment and fossil stress toys to send the trunk or treater's home with a piece of Jurassic Park. Don't forget the candy though! Bring a large silver dinosaur "feeding bucket" to store the treats in and bring enough skeleton tote bags for the kids to gather their treats in! Welcome to Jurassic Park!

Social distancing measures may be in place for your trunk or treat this year, but there are still lots of ways to make trunk or treat fun and safe for everyone! Build stanchions to keep distance between cars and encourage social distancing. To make your own stanchions, fill galvanized pails with gravel. Place a garden stake in each pail and then slide a black craft noodle over each one. Finish your stanchions by pushing a foam pumpkin over the top of each garden stake. You can now tie plastic streamers from one stanchion to another to create dividers to use between cars or to mark social distancing areas. In addition, volunteers who are handing out candy can use grabbers to avoid picking up the candy and also wear Halloween themed face masks to help keep everyone safe. Remember to have some hand sanitizer available so it's easy for everyone to keep their hands clean.
