To start decorating my assigned reading area, I began by hanging the Safari Design-A-Room Backdrop on the back wall. Once that was in place I started planning where I would hang the Super Safari Canopy Tent. This is a large decorative piece, and I wanted to make sure it would have room to hang and for the students to fit comfortably under it. I hung the Paradise Safari Party Lanterns to the right of the canopy to fill the space. Another option would be to write a phrase on the wall using bulletin board letters.
My next mission was to get my library books organized. I used two different plastic storage tubs and made labels on my computer to keep the books organized. To hide desk behind the bookshelf, I hung a raffia skirt on the back side of the bookshelf. This adds texture to the decor, and keeps the area more enclosed. I strung bamboo garland across the top of the shelf.
I printed out the phrase "WILD ABOUT READING" and taped the letters to the side of the shelf.
The students will be able to read under the canopy using pillows and well as sit on this couch! Students love different seating options, so I am excited to introduce them to this new couch!
Of course I needed to include a GIANT zebra to our decor! This little reading nook is going to be the perfect area for the students to curl up with a good book!
