Fall is probably our favorite time of year! Of course we love all the pumpkins, hayrides, and cool crisp fall nights, but more than that, we really love our favorite fall movie, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. In fact, this year we created a Halloween party around it, complete with a popcorn bar, outdoor movie viewing and plenty of DIYs.

Watching this Peanuts™ movie is a tradition that has been passed on from our parents down to us, and now we love sharing it with our own kids. While we typically enjoy watching this movie from the comfort of our own couch, we decided to shake things up this year and plan an outdoor movie party. Our kids were beyond excited and couldn't wait to invite their neighborhood friends to join in our family tradition. Follow along and see how we put together a fun It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown party.
Our little Charlie Brown enthusiasts ran to the backyard to find themselves in a Peanuts Halloween haven! They were greeted with an array of Peanuts Halloween stations including Sally's Table of Treats, Snoopy's Popcorn Bar, Lucy's Games and much more! They were able to easy navigate the stations thanks to this adorable Peanuts Halloween Directional Sign.Sally's Table of Treats We decorated a small kids table with the most adorable Peanuts Halloween themed decor! Each place setting consisted of a Purple Chevron Paper Dinner Plate and a Peanuts Halloween Paper Dinner Plate. We added a bit of black Cotton Rickrack Trim to a Lemon Yellow Plastic Fork (for that cute Charlie Brown shirt inspired detail) and laid it on a Peanuts Halloween Paper Luncheon Napkin along with a pack of crayons from the Halloween Peanuts Assortment.
The kids enjoyed sipping lemonade and fruit punch from the Peanuts Halloween Cups with Straws. These also made cute favors once the party was over!
We made a simple centerpiece by flipping over a stained DIY Unfinished Wood Slat Crate and placing one of the Peanuts Halloween 3D Scene Craft Kits on top. We also added in some yummy Lil' Pumpkin Frosted Lollipops between the slats of the Wood Crate to make it look like a pumpkin patch!
Snoopy's DIY Popcorn Bar Rather than use a standard table for our DIY Popcorn Bar, we thought we'd bring in a fall feeling with some large hay bales. Living in rural Pennsylvania, we were able to grab a few of these from our local farmer's market, but if you don't have access to the real thing, no worries! Just order a few of these awesome Collapsible Faux Hay Bales. They look just like the real thing but without the mess!
We placed 2 large bowls of freshly popped popcorn in these Peanuts Halloween Bowls. The kids would grab a Mini Kraft Cardboard Popcorn Box, scoop in some popcorn, and then head to the toppings portion of the Popcorn Bar. We decorated a few Medium Galvanized Pots with some Grosgrain Ribbon and Cotton Rickrack Trim, lined them with brown paper bags and filled them with an array of candies including candy corn, candy pumpkins and Sparkling Orange, Sparkling Yellow and Sparkling Lime Green Chocolate candies. Clear Candy Scoops made it easy for the kids to add their own candy, which they loved!
We also had our Pumpkin Spice Popcorn out for the taking in some Mini Kraft Cardboard Popcorn Boxes that we decorated with a few pieces from the Peanuts Halloween 3D Scene Craft Kit. Trust us, this snack will be a new fall favorite!
We introduced more fall accents by adding some mums and 4 Foam Orange Pumpkins. We then added the words, "GREAT PUMPKIN POPCORN BAR" using our cutting machine and just loved how it turned out. On one side of the pumpkins we used a painted DIY Unfinished Wood Slat Pumpkin, customized with our favorite quote from the movie, "I got a rock". Poor Charlie Brown!
On the other side of the pumpkins you can see our DIY Welcome Sign. We love these new Burlap Covered Canvases and thought they would make the perfect background for our sign. And how cute are those DIY Unfinished Wood Letters?! All we had to do was add a coat of Yellow Acrylic Paint and a black, chevron stripe and they were Charlie Brownified! Adding a few pieces from the Peanuts Halloween Hanging Swirls brought in the perfect character cuteness!
Our DIY Popcorn Bar wouldn't have been complete without the Peanuts Great Pumpkin Backdrop. We simply taped the backdrop to some foam core backing and propped it up against a folding table.
Lucy's Games Before settling in on Linus' blanket for the movie premiere, our guests headed over to the Peanuts Great Pumpkin Cardboard Stand-Up and had a blast playing with the Peanuts Halloween Bean Bag Toss and Peanuts Halloween Disc Drop Game! These games were perfectly sized for our pint-sized Peanuts fans, and they'll be a hit for years to come!
Before heading home, our guests filled up their Peanuts Halloween Favor Boxes with a bunch of fun goodies from the Halloween Peanuts Assortment, which included Peanuts finger puppets, stress balls, pencils and more!
We hope this It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Outdoor Movie Party gets you ready for fall and ready to welcome the infamous Great Pumpkin!
