We love to watch sporting events as a family. What we love even more is getting together and playing all sorts of sports with each other. That was the inspiration behind this International Summer Games Family Party – a way to celebrate and also get active. For this International Summer Games Family Party we decided to invite aunts, uncles, and cousins over to our park. We told them to be ready to be active and have some friendly competition. It was a lot of fun!
I began by setting up the food table. I used one of the International Flags Tablecloths. (The other tablecloth was used for the backdrop for our photo booth. Check out that post to see how we did that.) Then I added in the napkins, cups, and plates. This table needed to have food for competitors, so I served fruits and veggies.
I also wanted something fun for the kids and these Gold Medal Gummy Fruit Packs were perfect. Kids love fruit snacks and these went perfect with our theme.
And finally, what's a party without chocolate? You'll love these yummy Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bites. Make sure you check out my recipe post for these treats!
You'll also notice that our DIY Medals are on the side. This was to remind everyone of what they were playing for.
Now for the games. Oriental Trading has so many games options. I think I'll just add one each year. Here are the games that we played this year. We started off with the Super Slider Games. This game is all about teamwork. Each team has to figure out how to make the slider work. Then once they had it going, they had to keep it up for 1 full minute.
Then we did the Linking Parachute. This one was so fun! There are several sections of a parachute that you can place together in different configurations. Two of the sections have holes in them. We placed a ball on each end and had a race for each team to get their ball in the hole. It was a hoot to watch!
Next was the Balancing Egg Relay Game. We had the kids racing with this game. They loved it.
We sure had a great time playing and eating together. It is destined to become a family tradition! Make sure you check out my Photo Booth, Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bites recipe, and our DIY medals for more information on this party.
