Your presence is requested at the Rosewood Manor for a Halloween murder mystery dinner party that will have everyone talking. A little party never killed anyone...or did it? This murder mystery diner party is a fun way to entertain friends and family and is full of bone chilling ideas that will make your Halloween celebration extraordinary!
Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year and I look forward to planning and hosting parties every single year. In fact we do LOTS of celebrating in October! From colorful kid-friendly Monster Mash parties to a cleverly themed Car EVIL Trunk or Treat, I love everything about Halloween. The spooky decorations, the costumes, the candy, everything! And while Halloween tends to be thought of as a holiday for the kids, I probably look forward to creating a spooktacular party just for the adults the most. This year I'm taking my guests on a journey, as they try to solve the mystery of "who dunnit" at this interactive dinner party.
With a nod to the classic board game, Clue, I created a mysterious party with this vintage Halloween collection, jewel tone fabrics, flowers and spooky decor.
I started by sending out these fun coffin box invitations with DIY "Save the Date" reminders. I love an interactive invitation that helps set the tone for the fun to come!
Since the dinner table is where we will be spending most of our evening I started by creating a simply and spooky table setting. I used a large piece of burlap as my table cloth and layered it with a deep red silk table runner and a black and white striped table runner. Next, I created a spooky centerpiece by filling a skull vase with deep hued silk flowers. I incorporated some of the iconic weapons from Clue like the rope, lead pipe and knife into this simple centerpiece. I scattered black and white pumpkins, crows and spider webs along the rest of the table.
Each place setting started with a black or gold charger, layered with white plates and these incredible vintage Halloween ceramic plates. Metallic gold cutlery, vintage Halloween napkins and skeleton hand cups round out each place setting.
While everyone was roaming and chatting with other guest trying to solve the mystery of "who dunnit" they could snack on meats and cheeses from the eerie charcuterie board. Or sip on our signature party cocktail, the Corpse Reviver in these Skeleton Hand Glasses.
After dessert guest could grab a treat from the "Death by Chocolate" dessert table. Setting up a designated and beautifully styled dessert station at my parties is still one of my favorite things to do. I love that this simple set-up can evoke the entire mood of the party and serve as a place for friends to gather, chat and sample desserts that are to DIE for delicious! Everything on our dessert table was chocolate and guest could use the vintage Halloween dessert plates to grab a treat and continue to mingle while trying to solve the mystery.
I may have a small obsession with skeletons at Halloween and I have quite the collection of these boney friends. But, by far my favorite is the life size gold skeleton I got last year. Isn't he dreamy?!
In addition to trying to figure out who committed the crime and solve the mystery, it was only fitting that we have a Murder Mystery Photo Booth to capture all the fun. I created printable signs our guests, or skeletons, could pose with to claim their innocence or declare their guilt!
When planning an interactive party like this, don't forget to make every part of your home feel festive and fun. To transform my home into the haunted Rosewood Manor I threw the vintage Halloween pillows on the couch with my other throw pillows, added more skeletons to the couch and incorporated some of the vintage Halloween vertical signs into some of my normal home decor.
If like me, you love Halloween then a murder mystery dinner party is a great way to engage and entertain guests!
