Lace up your skates and get ready to face-off and celebrate the birthday boy! This birthday celebration is simple but packed full of fun ideas and party supplies to help make sure you don't end up in the penalty box.
My son wanted to celebrate his birthday party at the hockey rink, so before we headed out for an afternoon of fun at the rink we invited his friends over for treats, games, and presents.
I'm a big fan of dessert bars at birthday parties because they create a focal point for party decorations and a central station where everyone can help themselves to treats. I created a DIY Hockey Rink Backdrop to anchor my dessert table and accentuated the set-up with a balloon garland.
To create the balloon garland I used a mix of black, blue, and white balloons then attached them to a 25-ft. balloon decorating strip. I also added in a few NHL Ice Time balloons and black and white striped mylar balloons to round out the garland.
The Hockey Boy Stand-In cutout was the perfect prop to place to the side of our dessert table. The kids had lots of fun taking turns posing for pictures in it too. You can even move the dessert table out of the way and slide the cut out closer to the balloon garland for the perfect photo booth.
Fill a metal bucket with all of the party supplies you'll need for everything from pizza to cupcakes. Keep Black paper plates, NHL Ice Time Round Paper Plates, NHL Ice Time Dessert Plates, and NHL Ice Time Napkins in one convenient place so guests to grab and help themselves to whatever they like.
Speaking of treats, hockey puck cupcakes, cookies, and hockey stick pretzels are the perfect treats for this party. Fill a half-gallon jar with popcorn and use the NHL Ice Time Cups to serve this concession stand treat.
The NHL Table Decorating Kit had the perfect props to add a strong slap shot of style to the dessert table. The Stanley Cup centerpiece looks great raised up against our DIY Ice Rink Backdrop.
After indulging in treats, it was time to burn off some of that extra energy. The kids hit the street for a friendly game of street hockey using the Inflatable Hockey Sticks.
Be the mom who shoots and scores with goodie bags full of fun surprises and treats. I filled goodie bags with Hockey Rubber Duckies, Hockey Stick Pencils, candy for a fun take-home treat.
