Check out a fun bulletin board display idea and a spring time writing activity that your students will enjoy. Say hello to spring time with an opinion writing activity. Your students will love learning the differences between facts and opinions as they decide which season is better, in their opinion of course. Be sure to grab the free printable to use in this activity too.

To get started use the fact and opinion dry erase set to help your students grasp the concept of fact and opinion. Have your students view the picture on their card and use a dry erase marker to record four facts about what they see. Remind them that a fact must be something that is true and can be supported by the photograph they have in front of them. Once they have a firm understanding of facts, they can start recording their opinions. When they are done have them switch cards with a partner, see if they can prove the facts on the card using the picture in front of them. Can they see the same things their partner saw? When it comes to opinions do they agree with their partner? Do they have a different opinion? This is a great way to introduce the art of constructive discourse with your students. Honoring someone's opinion even if it is different from their own. After your students have a firm understanding of facts and opinions you can get started with a fun season themed writing activity.

Use the Hello Spring printable writing activity. At the top of their writing activity, they can use the Venn diagram to compare spring time to another season. This is a great way to get them thinking of how the seasons are alike and how they are different. This is a great way to brainstorm and get the ideas flowing for writing. After they are done comparing the seasons, they can determine which one, in their opinion is the best. They can write an opinion paragraph about the best season with details and facts that support why it is the clear winner, in their opinion of course.

Once these seasonal masterpieces are finished, they of course need to be displayed around the room. I love pairing the happy spring tree craft with this writing activity. My students loved creating these, and they look adorable hanging around the room. Everything you need comes in the kit, just use the instructions to guide you and you will have a cute little tree perfect for displaying.

Bulletin board ideas

For my bulletin board I started with the basics using the fadeless cloud paper to line the board. I use a few of my favorite borders to add in some color. A simple black and white border paired with the happy day double-sided border and the bright green grass scalloped border make the board pop!

I used the Schoolgirl Style big tree bulletin board set on the side of the board, for the top I use white tissue fans to look like clouds. I staple these directly to the bulletin board. Layering them helps to hide the staples. The mango leaf garland serves as a perfect banner to clip student work to.

To top it off I add in a few whimsical Schoolgirl Style butterflies, to make them look like they are 3D, simply bend them in half and add a staple directly into the center. Now they look like they have just landed on the board, such a fun look. Use your favorite fonts and some brightly colored paper to print out your own bulletin board letters to add to your board.
