Mahalo-ween! That's right Luaus aren't just for summer anymore! Transform your backyard space into a spooky tropical island luau. This simple and inexpensive luau makeover is cursed to get spookier as the sun goes down. Welcome your guests with killer tiki torches and pineapple jack-o-lanterns. Guests will be dying to get a drink from the drop-dead gorgeous bartender at your haunted DIY Tiki Bar too. Happy HULA-ween!
Set A Killer Table
Set the table with reds, oranges and yellows; the perfect palette for a fiery tiki curse. Use the sarong from the Men's Luau Apparel Kit as a vibrant tablecloth.
In the center of the table add pineapple jack-o-lanterns as centerpieces. First spray the pineapple black (including the tops of the leaves) then, spray the pineapple base orange. This gives the pineapple skin a darker contrast to the inside of the pineapple, as well as a spooky black edging. Place the jack-o-lanterns on top of black spray painted candlesticks for height.
Tips: Either carve the inside of the pineapple out as you would a pumpkin and place a light inside or carve a face into the pineapple leaving the flesh inside. The yellow still provides a good contrast to the outside skin for a creepy face. These can still be lit using a torch or candle underneath as an up-light.
At each end of the table add a Tabletop Bamboo Polynesian Torch. Find out how to give these torches a DIY Halloween Skull Tiki Torch makeover. Place the torches on Natural Raffia Hand Fans spray painted black for Halloween.
Bone Appetit
Layer place settings by starting with a Natural Raffia Hand Fan spray painted black as Hallow's Eve night. Add a blood Red Round Paper Dinner Plate crossed with a Black Premium Plastic Fork and a Black Premium Plastic Knife.
Finally, add an Orange Luncheon Napkin that guests will have to pry from the skeletal hands of party goers gone by!
Don't forget to serve up a BITE sized party favor! Place an Eyeball Sticky Splat Ball on a Mini Clear Appetizer Plastic Bowl.
Cheers Witches!
It wouldn't be Hallo-wine without a toast to the dead in a gruesome Skeleton Hand Plastic Cup.
Curse of the Tiki
Give guests the feeling of being watched as they dine! Add Jumbo Tiki Cardboard Cutouts to your backyard fence. Consider adding small up-lights underneath to add to the spook as night falls.
Add black spray painted Medium Polyester Palm Leaves and flowers from the lei in the Men's Luau Apparel Kit as spooky accents.
Let's Have Some Skele-fun
Your guests are sure to find it "humerus" if you have them mingle with skeleton party goers. Drape a Life Size Posable Skeleton with a mix of Yellow & Black Hawaiian Flower Polyester Leis and blood Red Flower Plastic Leis and add an Adult's Beachcomber Hat.
For the ladies, dress them in an Adult's Coconut Bra, Flowered Raffia Hula Skirt and Red Devil Wig with Horns - the best in haunted island fashion!
