Harry Potter Mantle
As a base for the mantle, I draped an extra large black creepy cloth across for some texture and to fit the Halloween mood.

In the center of the mantle were stacked suitcases in brown, black and gold, just ready to be loaded onto the Hogwarts Express. My husband's Gryffindor scarf fit in perfectly when draped over the suitcases.
A darling Platform 9 3/4 Hogwarts Express sign looks just like the one from the movie and took me under 10 minutes to make!
I pressed one of the decals from this Harry Potter decal set onto a piece of foam board, then cut around the decal with sharp scissors. I painted the edges of the foam board to match the sign.
Now I have the perfect little Hogwarts Express sign without a lot of work!
We just had to include Hedwig, so she was placed inside her cage, ready for her trip with Harry to head back to Hogwarts.

Next to Hedwig were Harry's glasses, along with a stack of his school books and his wand.
Sticky slugs felt just like the real thing and were a fun reminder of the time when Ron's spell on Malfoy backfired.

Dobby stood watching guard, along with a white sock showing that he is now a free elf!
Gift boxes in all different shapes and sizes were wrapped in brown kraft paper and tied with string to look just like the owl post packages. This is a great way to add a lot of volume to your mantle in an inexpensive way!

Orange and white pumpkins were placed on the packages, as well as a Knockturn Alley sign that looks just like the real deal!
I made the Knockturn Alley sign the same way that I made the Hogwarts Express sign. I simply added the Knockturn Alley decal to a piece of foam board, cut around the decal, then painted the sides to match the front of the sign.
I just LOVE how it turned out!
Base of the Fireplace
A giant cauldron looks right at home at the base of the fireplace with a crow perched on top. I turned a plain black cauldron into a realistic witches cauldron by adding texture and some creative painting. You can see the tutorial here to make your own!

More owl post deliveries were also near with a potion-making book, Luna's glasses, and a big black spider (to represent Aragog) on top. Behind you can see the Nimbus 2000, just waiting for its owner to return.

In front of the cauldron were stacked some of our wands and boxes we already had.
Candy Trolley
It just wouldn't be a Harry Potter mantle without a candy trolley, would it?
I filled a black three-level cart with all sorts of Harry Potter goodies for all the witches and wizards to enjoy.
Check out all the details and how to create your own Harry Potter Trolley Cart, complete with giant lollipops, chocolate frogs, pumpkin juice in cauldron mugs, and so much more!
An orange and white pumpkin sat next to the trolley cart to add to the Halloween feel of the mantle.
I hope you enjoyed our Harry Potter Halloween Mantle as much I did! It truly is a fun and magical way to decorate for the Halloween season.
