There are so many things I love about Hanukkah: the flickering candles of the menorah, freshly made latkes topped with applesauce, and my children's excitement when they open their presents. But one of my favorite things about the Jewish holiday is that it's eight days long—meaning there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate with family and friends! This Hanukkah party combines a traditional blue and white color palette with modern elements like a DIY menorah centerpiece, a donut dessert bar, and Hanukkah Bark Recipe for a delicious party favor. And, of course, no Hanukkah party would be complete without plenty of dreidels to spin!
The Hanukkah Table
Traditional Hanukkah colors are blue and white like the flag of Israel. To add some depth to the design, I incorporated various shades of blue such as navy and turquoise as well silver accents. This white metallic tablecloth was the perfect base layer for my holiday table.
At each place setting, I started with a silver laser-cut charger because the geometric shapes are reminiscent of the Star of David. Next came cobalt blue dinner plates and Happy Hanukkah dessert plates featuring a trio of dreidels. Paper plates are my go-to for dinner parties to make cleanup quick and easy! Light blue forks and knives complement the dreidel plates without being too matchy-matchy and coordinate with the shimmer ribbon wrapped around the Hanukkah Bark Gift Box. Can you spy the darling Hanukkah charm peeking out from the bow? Finally, I added plastic stemless wine glasses that can be washed and reused at my next party.
DIY Hanukkah Menorah Centerpiece
To create my Hanukkah menorah centerpiece, I filled nine wine glasses with water, dyed blue with food coloring, and topped each with a floating candle. To distinguish the "shamash" or helper candle from the rest of the eight candles, I set it atop a small glass cup in the center of the table.
I love how the light blue water of the DIY menorah centerpiece pops against the navy blue menorah table runner. For even more visual interest, I scattered wooden dreidels, silver chocolate coins, and cheeky Hanukkah mini buttons down the length of the table. I think they bring a playful touch to the table!
Hanukkah Decorations
Beneath an assortment of royal blue paper fans and metallic iridescent paper fans, I hung a Hanukkah banner that I made by gluing Star of David ornaments to a silvery-grey tassel garland. On a nearby shelf, Hanukkah rubber duckies make a surprise appearance inside a glass cake stand.
Donut Dessert Bar
You can't have a Hanukkah party without "sufganiyot" or round jelly donuts for dessert! I stacked these tasty treats on a white cake stand next to a pile of small Happy Hanukkah napkins. Chocoholics can get their fix from the clear candy cylinder filled with blue and grey Hanukkah M&M's. A foam menorah centerpiece and Hanukkah animal gift bags stuffed with orange tissue paper add a festive touch to the dessert bar.
But wait, there's more! Guests can also grab a donut off a clever donut serving stand or help themselves to a handful of silver chocolate coins. The blue chocolate candies are the same ones I used in the Hanukkah Bark Gift Boxes.
