Kids love Halloween! The candy and costumes make them giddy with anticipation. I like to embrace this excitement by adding Halloween themed activities into our learning. Plus, my students love using mini erasers too, so I knew this Halloween mini eraser graphing activity would be a spooktacular way to practice graphing skills! Make sure to grab the Free Printable Graph for this activity.
To prepare for this activity you'll need to fill each of the Mini Pumpkin Buckets with a handful of the Mini Halloween Emoji Erasers. You can use this activity in whole group learning, small group learning or in a center. You'll also need to print out enough Halloween Graphing printables for your class. Download the Free Halloween Graphing HERE. Tell students that they will get to go "trick or treating" by picking a Mini Pumpkin Bucket, but instead of candy inside they will find Halloween mini erasers! Have them take the cat, ghost, skull, and pumpkin erasers out of the pumpkin bucket and graph how many they have of each eraser onto the Halloween Graphing printable. This is a good time to have students make observations about what they see on their graph. Graphing is a great activity for students to organize information, as well as compare and analyze numbers. Using a manipulative like mini erasers for graphing helps students concretely work with numbers while adding extra interest into the activity. We love using mini erasers in our learning and use them in lots of ways!
Next, have students color in their graph and interpret the data by answering the questions of which Halloween mini eraser they had the most and least. Since students love getting new pencils, you can also let them use these fun Spooky Eyes & Jack-O'-Lantern Pencils for this activity. They'll be so excited when they learn that they get to keep the pencils to use in class.
