Frozen Inspired Trunk or Treat Idea

Let it go, let it go, we can't hold back our trunk or treating excitement anymore! Break the icy-cold spell of boring trunk or treats this Halloween with a Frozen trunk. We transformed this Halloween event into an an ice-tastic trick or treating experience complete with snowflake stickers, tattoos and wands to send a bit of Arendel home with the little goblins. Keep reading to find out how to make the Frozen inspired trunk or treat!

Trunk or treats are one of the best Halloween traditions around, since they bring together friends and family to have a fun and safe Halloween. Kids absolutely love walking from trunk to trunk with their friends and usually come out pretty good on the treat side of things! Decorating trunks is always so much fun, but it can be challenging to find a theme that is fresh and exciting for the kiddos. This Disney themed trunk or treat idea checked all the boxes.

Overall trunk

This year we wanted something that would wow our Disney princess loving guests, but with all the craziness of fall activities we needed a theme that would come together easily. You can create this Frozen themed trunk with just a few products and a little prep. Start by lining your trunk with the light blue tablecloth. Next, layer the silver glitter fabric over the tablecloth to give your trunk a shimmering snow look. And we couldn't create a princess themed trunk without a castle! Thankfully, this Arendelle Ice Castle stand-up is perfectly sized for a trunk and easy to set up. It served as the perfect backdrop and really brought Princess Elsa's home to life.

One of our favorite crafting hacks for a wintery theme is to thread cotton balls and white tinsel pom poms onto clear cording with a large-eyed needle. Hang these strands from the trunk to make it look like it's snowing. Finish up the frozen kingdom in your trunk by piling Poly-fil on top of your trunk to resemble snow. Finally, add a few tissue paper snowflakes to finish up the wintery look. After this little trick, Arendelle is complete. Yay!

Cotton Balls

After the Frozen castle was complete, we wanted our trunk or treaters to be able to hop right into the movie by traveling down the ice road to gather their Frozen themed treats. To do this, place White floral sheeting on each side of the blue tablecloth roll leading up to the trunk. Then cut the floral sheeting in half so it doesn't take up too much room in the parking lot. We love the way the floral creates a textured look on the ice road.

Ice Road

Since wind can wreak havoc on loose fabric, add silver balloon weights to secure the ice road in place and add a few snowflake floor decals on the road to create a fun pattern leading up to Arendelle. If you want to add a little more detail to the road so that the kids feel super special walking up to the castle, make these super easy light-up snowflakes buckets to line the sides of the ice road. Start by adding sand and floral foam into the silver buckets, then add the snowflake stakes into the foam and fill the rest of the bucket up with Poly-fil to create the look of snow. This ensures they are durable for the full day of trunk or treating. These little light-up snowflakes gave the Disney themed trunk a magical touch, especially once the sun started to set.

One of the best parts of any trunk or treat is choosing the treats to hand out to the kids. Seeing their faces light up is so fulfilling! This year's treats were especially fantastic because they were Frozen themed and affordable. It was hard to pick one treat to hand out, so we bought a few different ones for the kids to choose from. Create a little gift pack for each of the kids using the Frozen favor pail and then add a mini snowflake wand, a few snowflake stickers and snowflake glitter tattoos. If you have a lot of trick or treaters, feel free to hand out a treat or two per child. The kids loved getting multiple items at our Frozen castle and the parents appreciated the candy alternatives. Don't forget to bring these adorable skeleton tote bags to hand out to the kids to hold their candy. It goes without saying that you must dress the part to hand out these treats, and this Elsa costume is perfect to dress up in.

There you have it! You're all set to start on the most magical trunk ever.handing out candy

Even with potential social distancing measures in place for your trunk or treat this year, there are still lots of ways to make trunk or treat fun and safe for everyone! Build stanchions to keep distance between cars and encourage social distancing. To make your own stanchions, fill galvanized pails with gravel. Place a garden stake in each pail and then slide a black craft noodle over each one. Finish your stanchions by pushing a foam pumpkin over the top of each garden stake. You can now tie plastic streamers from one stanchion to another to create dividers to use between cars or to mark social distancing areas. In addition, volunteers who are handing out candy can use grabbers to avoid picking up the candy and also wear Halloween themed face masks to help keep everyone safe. Remember to have some hand sanitizer available so it's easy for everyone to keep their hands clean.
