This adorable baby shower will make the mom-to-be and her guests feel like they've been transported to a quaint, European flower shop! A show-stopping backdrop complete with flower shop windows, awnings and flower-filled window boxes sets the scene for a picturesque experience, while a bouquet bar full of gorgeous blooms fills the air with the aroma of fresh blossoms. A free printable set pulls it all together seamlessly to help you create a celebration that the soon-to-be mama will cherish forever.
The charm of this shower begins with the backdrop. We wanted to evoke the vibe of a cozy courtyard, so we started off by creating storefront windows. First, we hung Double-Sided Striped Window Awnings in our space. We actually trimmed two scallops off of each end of the awnings to get them to our desired width before hanging. We did this by cutting them off completely, then cutting a slit along the top fold so that the pieces would slide over top of the middle awning section. We then used poster strips to secure the ends into place then hung the awnings on the wall.
Next, we used removable poster strips to hang the Flower Shop Window Posters beneath the awnings. We painted DIY Flower Box Centerpieces with Black Acrylic Paint. Once they were completely dry, we attached them to the wall using removable adhesive strips. The boxes are lightweight, but we used 12 lb. strips to make sure the boxes were nice and secure on the wall. We filled the boxes about 3/4 full with crumpled tissue paper to add height, then folded Green Heavyweight Construction Paper over the top of it to camouflage any exposed holes in the flowers. We cut a strand of Value Thistle Globe Garland in half, then placed one half of the garland in each window box on top of the green paper. We trimmed the flowers from Blush Rose Garland and White Peony Faux Floral Garland and arranged them in each box, trying to be sure to fill any exposed gaps in the arrangements.
The DIY Bouquet Bar was definitely one of our favorite elements of this baby shower! To set it up, we first hung the Bouquet Bar Poster between the "windows." Next, we filled Large Cylinder Glass Vases, Clear Cylinder Vases and Clear Apothecary Jar Vases with an array of fresh flowers. To display the arrangements at varying heights, we propped a few of the vases on risers from the White Buffet Riser Set. A framed "A Baby is About to Bloom" Sign situated amidst the flowers emphasized our theme beautifully.
To mimic the vibe of an authentic courtyard market, we created a DIY sidewalk chalk sign. Our printable "Baby Shower Bouquets" Sign fits nicely on a Chalkboard Easel with Distressed Frame and invites the guests to create a bouquet to take home!
To hold the bouquets, we created paper cones out of black card stock. We used an adhesive pop dot to adhere "A Baby is About to Bloom" tags onto each cone. We had Small Clear Cellophane Gift Bags available for the guests to put the wet stems in, then they slid the bags into the paper cones to travel home.
When it was time for dessert, guests were invited to take a seat in our "courtyard" to enjoy some treats.
The table settings were decorated with soft pastel florals...just perfect for a sweet baby shower! Each place setting was comprised of a Shabby Chic Lace Placemat, a Garden Party Paper Dinner Plate, a Garden Party Cup, an Iridescent Straw, a Pink Chevron Napkin and Premium Ornate Gold Cutlery.
The table runner and centerpiece decor between our place settings were kept very simple. We drew whimsical floral designs and sentiments on a Kraft Paper Roll with a Chalk Marker and used that as our table runner. White Ceramic Vases were filled with just a few flowers to create charming little arrangements and give the table a pretty finishing touch.
If you know a baby that is about to bloom, I hope these ideas have inspired you to shower mama with a beautiful floral-inspired baby shower like this one. Enjoy!
