One of my favorite spots in my home to decorate is the mantel in my living room. I love changing up my mantel decor for each holiday or season. The shiplap wall provides the perfect backdrop for any occasion and this space is easy to transform without breaking the bank each holiday or season.

We've had a rather dreary winter and I'm ready for a fresh start, so I decided to give my mantel a makeover and brighten things up with simple spring decor that is inspired by some farmhouse mantel decorating ideas.

Spring Garden Mantel Decorations

While I frequently change out my mantel decor, one thing that typically always stays is an old vintage window that we salvaged from my husband's grandparent's farm. For this spring mantel idea, I decided to liven things up with a trio of Spring Embroidery Hoop Wreaths. I used big bright floral blooms, faux greenery, and embroidery hoops to create these simple wreaths in less than 30 minutes. They look perfect hanging from the vintage window and create a focal point for the rest of the mantel decorations.

When I think of spring I think of flowers, gardens, birds chirping and the brilliant blue sky. I decided to use that as my inspiration for my spring mantel decor and used a simple blue color palette with pops of blush, coral and white.

While I don't have a green thumb, my grandmother did and I always loved helping her plant new spring flowers in weathered and aged terra cotta pots. I decided to create my own special garden pots by making DIY Whitewashed Terra Cotta Pots. I filled them with moss and stacked and layered them all around the mantel.

You know spring has arrived when the birds start chirping, so I included a few birds nest with eggs to really capture this part of the fresh new season.

Next, I took away the birds nests and replaced them with painted Easter eggs. I painted a few of the unfinished wooden eggs and filled them with simple blooms and displayed them with my DIY Decorative Floral Easter Eggs I created a few years ago. Then I filled the vintage wheelbarrow with a variety of colorful Easter eggs and flowers for an updated look.

Easter eggs are the quintessential symbol of Easter so I hung a DIY farmhouse speckled Easter egg garland from the mantel, along with a DIY burlap and lace bunny banner. I made these last year and I love how seamlessly they work with my decor this year.

Finally, I added in a few bunnies to finish off the Easter look. You can find a great variety of unfinished ceramic and wood decor that you can customize and personalize to fit your personal style. I simply spray painted a few of these including the ceramic bunnies with baskets and ceramic Easter bunnies to match my colorful mantel decor.
