Sometimes all you need is black and white to make a modern holiday statement. Use black acrylic paint, some paintbrushes and white ceramic ornaments to create this hand-painted ornament. I used one of the smallest brushes in this pack to hand paint little hash marks all over the ornament. Let dry and add a red ribbon to hang. The beauty with this ornament is that each one you make will look slightly different!

We love making ornaments with bright sheets of tissue paper. This is a simple technique that you'll absolutely love! Simply cut one-inch tall strips from tissue paper squares in your favorite colors. We cut our strips 1/4-1/2 inch wide. Brush matte Mod Podge® onto your ornament and start placing strips of tissue paper onto the ornament. We chose to keep our strips in the middle of our round ornament. Next, brush a thin layer of Mod Podge® over the tissue paper. We like to smooth out any wrinkles with our fingers or a dry brush. Let dry and hang with simple jute cording or ribbon.

You can use your imagination to create these hand-painted fancy shaped ornaments. First, tape off the bottom third of the ornament and paint two coats of your favorite color of acrylic paint. Once dry, use paint markers to draw on simple borders such as vertical lines, dots, hash marks or triangles. Let dry and use as gifts or a fun way to decorate your holiday packages!

Have you ever noticed that cocktail napkins come in the cutest colors and patterns? We found some adorable red herringbone and green terrazzo triangle napkins that we knew would be perfect for transform our ornaments! It's so simple! First, find a glass or bowl at home that is just a little bit smaller in diameter than your round ceramic ornament. Use the glass or bowl to trace a circle onto your napkin. Cut out the circle and remove the thin white bottom layer. Then, brush Mod Podge® onto your ornament and place the napkin onto the ornament. Smooth out gently with your fingers. Let dry and use jute cording to hang on your tree.

Anyone can make these cute and colorful DIY modern brushstroke ornaments. Pick three to five colors to be in your palette. Then, using a bigger sized brush, make a quick brushstroke onto the ornament. You can use the fancy shaped ornament, the traditional ornament or the flat circle. Let that first color dry, then add the second color, let dry, then the third. These ornaments can be created by anyone...even those who claim they aren't crafty!
